Tenyu is an inn in Hakone. What I particularly want to highlight are Tenyu's three room types: Standard Room, Top Floor Room, and Special Room. The Standard Room feels rather small to me, and the interior decor isn't particularly modern—it's comparable to 3-star accommodations (like Suigetsusou in Hakone). If you prefer a mountain view or want to avoid insects, the Top Floor Room is a good choice, though the decor still isn't outstanding. The real standout is the six Special Rooms, which are very spacious. These are highly recommended for families or groups of friends, and the open-air private hot spring in the room is uniquely designed. As for dining, options like teppanyaki or sukiyaki are available—just pick what you like. Breakfast is a Western-style buffet; it won’t disappoint and will definitely fill you up. While every room has a private hot spring, I highly recommend trying the public baths. The indoor bath features floor-to-ceiling windows with lovely views, and the outdoor bath gives the illusion of blending into the horizon, reminiscent of Southeast Asian infinity pools. The hotel offers shuttle service from Gora Station at fixed times, so check the schedule before heading out.

Regarding dining, the breakfast offers unlimited snow crab legs, but the cold food affects the taste. The variety of dishes is rich, combining both Japanese and Western styles, but lacks memorable flavors. The window seats offer better views, but seating is guided by staff, and the coffee machine struggles to meet demand during peak times. The hotel's additional services are delightful, including two free classical music performances, complimentary tea and coffee, and unlimited ice cream. Facilities The hotel is very new, which is rare among the many inns in Hakone with a history of a hundred years, so the facilities are all very good. The rooms are large, with tatami mats, and a standard deluxe room can sleep four people. Hot Springs The hotel's public baths are especially nice, with separate floors for men and women that switch every other day. The fifth floor has a garden waterfall view, and the sixth floor has an infinity view, both of which are amazing. The skincare and bath products provided are all from POLA, which are also reassuring to use. Meals We booked a one-night stay with two meals. Both breakfast and dinner deserve five stars. Especially the dinner, we booked teppanyaki, and at the reservation time, a shuttle bus took us to the restaurant five minutes away. We tried all the 3 and love them all! The lobby area offers wide varieties of drinks (alcohol and non alcoholic) and free ice cream during the day. We booked a half board package and love the food.
