#100TravelTips Black Dragon Pool is a tourist attraction not far from Lijiang Old Town. It is a shady place with a canal running through it. When we arrived, it was raining, so the view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which is a highlight, definitely looks beautiful when photographed. The fragrant butter tea, the crispy outside and tender inside crossing bridge rice noodles, the rich sour fish soup, each bite is telling the style of Lijiang. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Like a huge screen, it stands in the northeast of Lijiang. The mountain peaks shine with silver under the sun, like a winding jade dragon. When climbing, although tired, every step is closer to the snow mountain, the feeling of excitement and anticipation is full of motivation. Getting There - The park is located not too far from the old town. You can take a short DiDi ride or enjoy a nice walk. (About 25mins) Hours ⏰ - 7:30-21:00 Attractions - The Black Dragon Pool park is a nice small park near the old town. I recommend going there for a little stroll. Try to go there on a clear day as the reflection of the mountain on the water is particularly stunning. Hotels - Plenty of hotels near by but I recommend staying in the old town. Food & Restaurants - I don’t remember seeing anything on site. Just a 15 min walk from the old town of Lijiang, we had a wonderful afternoon at Black Dragon Pool Park. It’s a well maintained park which you can walk around easily, enjoy the scenic view of Yu Long mountain, feed the fish and take in the Chinese architecture. The Longshen temple in the middle of the lake stands out which was built almost 300 years ago. if you are up for a hike you can start climbing the stairs on elephant hill to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view. We didn’t pay the entrance fee cause the phone map brought us to the other side of the park so we actually climbed elephant hill before reaching the park. it’s an almost 2 hour detour which I don’t recommend for people with walking difficulties or hot weather.

Heilongtan Park, also known as Yuquan Park, locates in the north of Lijiang old town, beneath Xiangshan. It's not only a casual place for locals to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery, but also combines historical cuture. It is so nice to have a walk around the lake and if you are lucky you can even see the Jade Dragon Snow mountain in the background. You can get there easily while visiting old town. This May holiday, we decided to pay a visit to this land of dragons. Although China is said to be famous for dragons, Lijiang is such a city with so many natural attractions made in analogy with dragon look alike. Here's one simple but totally mind-blowing park that gives you the view of Black dragon. The temple standing there is perceived to be the head of the dragon and the bridge is the neck; while the remaining pool out there is the body of it. Yes, I'm talking about the Black dragon pool (黑龙潭） in Lijiang. Situated near to the ancient town, we checked in at the hotel Moutan in Jiaoyu road. And the park is just 200m from there. Yunnan (云南is an amazing place, with rich culture and stunning, diverse nature. In Lijiang 丽江 we visited the Black Dragon Pool 黑龙潭 just north of the Ancient Old Town and took a day trip to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain 玉龙雪山 to see the Blue Moon Valley 蓝月谷 - an absolutely mindblowing place with water so blue that it felt surreal!
