🌷Celebrate your birthday in a European town! Nagasaki "Huis Ten Bosch" Dream Family Travel Notes
A dreamy parent-child trip and a fairy-tale birthday celebration left us with full of happy memories at "Huis Ten Bosch" in Nagasaki, Japan.
🏰 Huis Ten Bosch is a breathing European town
"Huis Ten Bosch" is located in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. It is a super-large theme park built with Dutch style as the theme, covering an area larger than Tokyo Disneyland! The entire park is full of European-style buildings, canals, windmills, gardens and fairy-tale streets. It is one of the most romantic European-style parks in Japan.
The name of the park comes from the Dutch Royal Palace "Huis Ten Bosch", which means "house in the forest", and the actual park is as dreamy as the name:
• There are flower seasons with different themes throughout the year 🌸
• Light sculpture music show and fireworks at night 🎆
• Integration of technology, VR, role-playing, amusement facilities, indoor adventure and cultural experience.
This time we chose to stay at Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch. Not only is the location excellent, it is right next to the park, but also has a super beautiful balcony view and natural hot spring facilities. It is one of the most satisfactory accommodations on our trip.
The room is spacious and elegant. When the balcony is opened, you can see the whole park and European town scenery. In the early morning, the light and shadow are sprinkled on the river, and the sunset in the evening dyes the entire sky red. No matter how you take pictures, it is as beautiful as a postcard.
What's more, the natural hot spring in the hotel ♨️, the facilities are clean and comfortable, and you can overlook the Japanese garden while taking a bath. After walking all day, take a bath and the whole person will instantly relax and restart.
🛥️ Free boat ride to see the park and an unexpected romantic surprise - swans
Hotel guests can also take a free sightseeing boat ride in the park! Of course we didn't miss it~ The boat sailed along the main canal, with beautiful Dutch-style streetscapes, gardens and stone bridges on both sides.
The weather was just right, the sun was shining on the water, and the whole boat quietly glided through the city, as peaceful as a movie scene. The most surprising thing was that we actually saw elegant swans slowly passing by the boat!
🚲 Rent a bicycle in the park
The area of Huis Ten Bosch is really not exaggerated, it is so large that you can't walk around it in a whole day. So we chose to rent a four-seater family bicycle, which was a complete savior of this trip! 🚲
This bicycle has a sunshade and direction control. Adults pedal and children sit in the front row, taking pictures and laughing. We rode all the way from the castle square to the flower field, and then to the Ferris wheel area, and we could play the entire park effortlessly.
We also passed many photo-friendly scenes along the way, such as European-style streets, canal bridges, waterfront cafes, and the small clock tower square... Take photos while moving!
🍽 Food
Dining in the park is a complete enjoyment. Not only does it taste good, but the presentation and appearance are also super photogenic! Here are a few of our favorites:
• Dutch pancakes Poffertjes: soft round pancakes topped with chocolate sauce and strawberries, even adults are rushing to eat them🍓🍫
• Nagasaki Wagyu hamburger steak: the meat is tender and juicy, just right with beer🍖🍺
• Flower Dessert Store: various shaped cakes, jellies, and cookies, the presentation is like a work of art, and you can't bear to eat them until you have taken pictures🎂
• Miffy Restaurant: cute desserts that are very popular with adults and children, and very suitable for afternoon tea!
If you are considering the budget or want to change the taste, we especially recommend the restaurant "キテルローレライ (KIRTL Lorelei)" directly opposite the park: affordable prices, diverse choices, including Japanese set meals, Western light meals and buffets. Their fried shrimp set meal and miso pork set meal are especially recommended, delicious and filling!
🎢 Themed experiences and facilities you can't miss
In addition to taking photos and enjoying the scenery, Huis Ten Bosch also has many wonderful facilities hidden inside, where both adults and children can have fun:
• Four Seasons Garden and Themed Flower Show 🌼: From tulips, roses to sunflowers, the park is blooming all year round
• VR Technology Theme Pavilion 🕶️: Enter the virtual world and play space flight, shooting games, and robot interaction
• Medieval European Style Indoor Adventure Zone 🏰: It is very suitable for children to release their energy, with mazes, light corridors and adventure facilities
• Fairy Tale Play Equipment & Role Dressing Experience 👑: Rent a princess or prince costume, and take photos in the carousel area, which is super dreamy
• Night Light Show "Kingdom of Light" 💡: The lights + music of the whole park are synchronized, and there are fireworks shows every night, which are super spectacular!
Birthday Celebration 🎉:
One of the protagonists of this trip is the birthday boy in our family! As soon as we entered the park, the service staff told us that as long as we are the birthday boy of the month, we can get the "Birthday Boy Mission Card" and sticker pack with our passport or ID! The birthday mission includes collecting birthday stamps at several designated scenic spots in the park. After completing each stop, you can affix a cute character sticker.
After completing the mission, you can get a free family birthday commemorative photo! The photographer will take a delicate photo of the whole family against the dreamy background of the park and print it out as a small gift for the birthday boy. The photo of our family of four was thus treasured as a special journey memory.
During this trip to Huis Ten Bosch, during the day, I rode bicycles, took photos, admired flowers, took a boat to see swans, and ate delicious desserts in a European town. At night, I watched the light show and fireworks, and finally went back to the hotel to relax.
Every link is perfect. If you are planning a family trip, a birthday celebration, a parent-child trip, or a dream photo trip, Huis Ten Bosch will be a choice you will never regret!
