Compared to the chaotic and crowded La Paz, Sucre stands out distinctly. Situated at an altitude of 2,800 meters, Sucre shares a similar elevation with Kangding in Sichuan, China. Yet, for a country where most of its territory lies on the Andean plateau, this is relatively low. Life here is leisurely, peaceful, and orderly, making it an ideal city for living. UNESCO has designated it as a World Heritage Site. This is a city blanketed by dense white traditional architecture, exuding a gentle and poetic charm, as if strolling through a European town. Indeed, the city was founded by Spanish colonizers and became Bolivia's capital in 1839. However, with the decline of the Potosí silver mines, the capital was moved to La Paz, and Sucre began its decline, now rarely a destination for travelers. Bolivia's carnival continues, but unlike the world-famous Oruro, Sucre's carnival feels more like a celebration for everyone—people sing and dance in the streets, though not in elaborate costumes. Water balloons, water guns, and foam guns are tools of joy and blessings here. Central Market, a place of trade and daily life. Under dim lighting, gazes intersect, and life unfolds in its routine. Flower vendors sprinkle water on delicate blooms, while food stalls see a constant flow of customers. The second floor offers many traditional local dishes. Shanghai Restaurant A relatively authentic Chinese restaurant. Bunsik Son A Korean-run eatery, slightly pricey but with authentic flavors. Kimchi pancakes and ramen are highly recommended.

#AbsolutelyFreeTrip The mercados (markets) in the center of town are surprisingly not cheap. Sucre has a central market called Mercado Central, but if you go a little further away there are mercados that are much cheaper. Just search for Mercado Campesino on Google Maps and you'll find them. Just before you get to the main mercado building, there are shops selling food, fruit, second-hand clothes, etc. lined up on the street. There are also local restaurants in the area, so it's fun to just wander around for a while.

As I was wandering around the restaurant zone on the second floor of the Central Market as usual, I came across a very delicious meal! It's called "asado en olla" It means meat dish cooked in a pot (olla). Beef and vegetables stewed with various spices. It was a little spicy and the most delicious meal I've ever had at the Central Market! #aprilblooms #bolivia Visiting Cal Orck'o, Sucre's dinosaur park, was a fascinating experience. Located about 5 km from the city center, it's famous for the massive limestone wall with over 12,000 dinosaur footprints dating back 68 million years. To get there, I took the Dinobus from Plaza 25 de Mayo, which offers round-trip rides for Bs15. It was easy and fun. Taxis cost around Bs30 one way, and public bus number 4 also goes near the park. The site is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

If it weren't for the irresistible Salar de Uyuni, also known as the mirror of the sky, many might not know about the highland nation of Bolivia, let alone its capital, Sucre. Sucre has been the legal capital for over a hundred years, but various government institutions are still located in La Paz, a two-day drive away. The city is not large, nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. Sucre is more like a cultural representative, having been designated a World Cultural Heritage site in 1991 because of its well-preserved old town. The white houses are neatly arranged, with architecture that has a distinct Spanish style. They are usually white and are decorated with brick corners, balconies, cast iron lattice patterns, and wooden shutters, all of which give a sense of the era. This is a city built by Spanish colonizers, with the main attractions mostly concentrated in the old town area, including churches, museums, and so on. The city sits at an altitude of nearly 3000 meters and is called the 'Tibet of South America.' On the streets, you can see indigenous people wearing traditional clothing, which really resembles the Tibetan attire of my country. Compared to many other countries I've visited, the city of Sucre is obviously a bit 'behind the times.' Here, you cannot use cards or online payments. There doesn't seem to be any must-see attractions, but the charm of Sucre lies in its historical flavor. Wandering through the streets and alleys, looking for traces of history, you might also find some unique shops.

The hottest place in Sucre is the Pink Castle. Be sure to check it out because it's a place that Koreans don't know about! The Glorieta Castle is the castle of the royal couple. Simon Bolívar Park It can be called the so-called dinosaur park and there is a well-made playground that children can enjoy in particular. Sucre Chocolate After eating Sucre chocolate, I don't know why only Pariti chocolate is so famous. Today, on this date in 2015. In Bolivia. Took the flight from Santa Cruz to sucre, Bolivia. This is really an old plane. 18 years old. A plane the same as this crashed one week later, carrying a team of footballers. Really uncomfortable as i was always flying on brand new dreamliners or Airbus prior to this. When you are in South America, the distance between each city is really far. When I was in Argentina, I took more than 30 hours of bus ride, non stop, from one city to another. And it is not cheap too, 400 usd each.
