At this moment! My fondness for Shanghai hotels is up up!!!
Full review of InterContinental Shanghai NECC
🏨Location
The hotel is part of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) and is located at Gate 3. The NECC is huge, and it takes a long time to walk from Gate 3 to the far entrance. Although there is a passageway inside the hotel leading to the exhibition hall, during certain events, such as the CP event I attended, the passageway is only open to exhibitors and NPCs, which is inconvenient for hotel guests. However, the hotel is close to Zhuguang Road subway station, so it is convenient for daily travel.
🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness
The hotel has excellent soundproofing, so you don't have to worry about being disturbed by noise from next door and can sleep soundly. The hotel is also very clean, with every corner of the room spotless, the bedding clean and tidy, and no strange smells in the bathroom, making for a very comfortable stay.
🏘️Room Layout
As a Diamond Ambassador member (without 40N), I booked a basic room and was successfully upgraded to a deluxe king room. The room is well laid out, spacious, and newly decorated, making for a very comfortable stay.
🛌Supplies/Facilities
The room is fully equipped and the facilities are relatively new. Although I didn't use the gym or other facilities, I didn't encounter any service issues during my stay, and overall the service was quite good.
💰️Average Spend
During exhibitions, such as CP and BW, hotel prices rise to two or three times the normal price and are often fully booked. This price is relatively high, but if you have a sufficient budget and are more concerned about the convenience of the exhibition, it is acceptable. However, if you are just visiting for fun, with the same budget of 2,000 yuan, I would recommend checking in at a popular hotel on the Bund, where you can also visit Bailian and have a richer experience. During non-exhibition periods, the hotel is more affordable and is a good value for money option for travelers who need accommodation for high-speed rail or flight transfers.
💗Other Tips
1. Before checking in, be sure to find out in advance about the distance between the various entrances to the exhibition and the hotel, as well as the rules for using the internal passageways, to avoid wasting time due to passageway restrictions like I did.
2. There are many front desks, so even during events like CP, check-in is quick and the experience is good.
3. The hotel's breakfast is average and meets basic needs. If you have higher requirements for breakfast quality, you can consider other dining options in the area.
4. As the area around the NECC is relatively empty, there are not many places to visit, and there is no special view from the room, so when choosing to stay, you should make a comprehensive judgment based on your itinerary and needs.
