The town itself is charming and peaceful, with friendly locals and a wonderful selection of ryokans and traditional inns. I stayed in a ryokan with a private onsen bath, and it was an absolute dream—relaxing in the warm waters while looking out over the mountains was a highlight of my trip. Don’t miss Jigokudani (Hell Valley), a volcanic crater with steaming vents and bubbling hot streams. Walking through the geothermal trails feels like stepping onto another planet. There’s also a beautiful footbath along the trail—perfect for a short rest. The local food is excellent too—try the fresh seafood, Hokkaido milk soft serve, and local ramen. Whether you're here to unwind or explore, Noboribetsu Onsen has something magical for everyone. Visited 地狱谷 (Jigokudani) in Hokkaido, a dramatic volcanic valley with steaming vents and otherworldly landscapes. The views were absolutely stunning! We joined a day tour since it’s not the easiest place to reach without a car. Highly recommend adding this unique spot to your Hokkaido itinerary.

Jigokudani Observatory is a place where you can see Jigokudani in its entirety!! The steam and hot springs make the terrain colorful, and I felt the power of nature very much👍️ The smell of sulfur was quite strong. The promenade to Jigokudani Observatory is well-maintained, so it was very easy to walk there.
