We chose to stay in Yuda Onsen town primarily due to its central location, which made traveling between Shin Yamaguchi and Yamaguchi convenient. As you exit the station, you'll spot the iconic fox statue, a symbol of the town. According to legend, a white fox healed its body by bathing its feet in the hot springs. Locals and visitors alike can enjoy a free footbath beside the station, adding to the town's peaceful ambiance. We loved exploring the area on scenic walks, taking in the serene atmosphere. Yuda Onsen is perfect for those seeking a less crowded destination with authentic onsen experiences. Don’t miss the footbath at Kitsune no Ashiato, a local gem. If you have time, experience Japanese culture at lawaku and try the delicious kawara soba! You can also visit the Yamaguchi Rurikiji temple nearby.

Unwind at Yuda Onsen’s Secret Spot

Kitsune no Ashiato, within walking distance from Yuda Onsen JR station, is another gem in this area. We paid ¥200 for the footpath, which included towel disposal. We also got to wear traditional kimonos for free, which added to the experience. We wore them during our foot bath session, and it was a lovely touch. We ordered a set menu consisting of coffee, pudding, etc. – the coffee was a fox-themed drink, which was iconic of Yuda Onsen and so cute. Everything was delicious. There's an indoor and outdoor footpath area, and we tried both. We had dessert at the indoor footpath and then went outdoors. Your feet will feel very smooth after the bath. It's a unique experience, and the price is cheap. The dessert was superb – must-try if you're in the area; you won’t regret it.

JR Yuda Onsen Station is full of hot spring hotels and various hot spring facilities, and the tourist facility with foot bath as the main feature - "Fox Footprints" 🦊 is really a surprise 🥰🥰🥰
The "Fox's Footprints" has a unique appearance, and a tourist information brochure for Yuda Onsen is placed at the door. You only need to pay 200 yen to experience 3 types of foot baths in the hall.
It was 5-6pm when we arrived that day. There were only one or two tourists in the whole hotel. The male staff in butler clothes was a friendly elder. He took the initiative to introduce the facilities in the hotel to me. It turned out that towels, outdoor slippers and yukatas were all provided free of charge. When he saw that I was a girl, he specially told me that there were pink yukatas to choose from. He also took the initiative to help take pictures. The service was very considerate 🫶🏻
🎶I first walked through the tree-lined path in the museum and went to an indoor foot bath "Kotono no Yu". While soaking in the foot bath, I listened to the poems and music played indoors by Nakahara Chuuya and admired the plants and trees outside the window, which was quite Zen.
💐Then go to the semi-open-air foot bath - "Four Seasons Hot Spring". I really like the layout here. The fake rocks, flowers, and plants create a natural atmosphere. There are also lanterns with Yamaguchi characteristics hanging above the head, which are bright and warm and romantic. ❤️❤️❤️
☕️Finally, I went to experience the "Window Hot Spring" with a cafe attached. The "Window Hot Spring" faces the "Four Seasons Hot Spring". I looked at the rocks, flowers and plants in the courtyard while tasting the cute fox coffee. My legs were soaked in the warm hot spring, and the fatigue from running on the journey gradually dissipated 😊
After soaking in the hot spring, I went to visit the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor. There was also a sake exhibition, which was very educational. If you are not interested in the exhibition, just appreciating the novel, simple, fashionable and elegant design of the museum is enough to satisfy you, especially the warm lighting design and the distinctive small lights by the windows, which make people feel at ease and at home, and make people want to stay again and again. The foot bath is open until 10pm. After finishing your schedule in the morning, you can still feel the romance of the moment in the evening🥰🥰🥰
