Great Ocean Road: London Bridge, The Grotto and Castle Cove
London Bridge - a famous tourist attraction that collapsed
This natural limestone arch bridge originally had two arches. In 1990, the part near the coast suddenly collapsed, leaving a "broken bridge" hanging alone on the sea. Now it has become a check-in point. On sunny days, the blue sea and the rocks are very photogenic. When I went there, it was cloudy, which matched the temperament of this "tragic attraction".
The Grotto - a regretful check-in in the wind and rain
The most anticipated attraction in the plan, but it encountered a rainstorm! The plank road seemed to be greased, and the strong wind tore the raincoat into rags. After hesitating for a long time, I still didn't dare to go down to the cave at the bottom. Just when I was shivering, three hardcore Chinese tourists came, and their laughter instantly dispelled the atmosphere of the horror movie. Travel advice: The scenery here is beautiful, but please do what you can when the weather is bad!
Castle Cove - The fog cleared and the sky cleared
On the way back, the whole road was engulfed by thick fog, with visibility less than 10 meters. Just when I was panicking, I suddenly turned to Castle Cove - the sky suddenly brightened! This viewing platform looks like the ruins of a medieval castle, overlooking the crescent-shaped bay. Although it is a niche, the scene of waves hitting the reefs after the rain healed the embarrassment just now.
Practical information
- The three attractions are 20 minutes away by car. It is recommended to play in the order of London Bridge → Grotto → Castle Cove
- The Grotto plank road is indeed dangerous in rainy days, and non-slip shoes are a must
- Castle Cove has no toilets, suitable for short stops to take pictures
This trip perfectly interprets "weather determines the travel experience" - but it is the accident that makes the story more interesting. Later, I looked through the photos and found that the cave in the heavy rain actually took a vicissitudes of life. It can be regarded as a blessing in disguise! #summervacay #naturalwonders #thingstodo #beachlife #travel #greatoceanroad #londonbridge #grotto #Castlecove
