Most suggestions when you’re in #lasvegas center around the nightlife—exploring the Strip, catching shows, and immersing yourself in the city’s energy. But if you’re staying for more than a couple of days, I highly recommend setting aside one day to step outside the neon and venture into nature. It is our #honeymoon, we were so lucky to find a tour that covered three iconic spots in one day: the Grand Canyon South Rim, Horseshoe Bend, and Lower Antelope Canyon. Our day started early—5 AM pickup from the Bellagio Hotel, which was conveniently within walking distance from where we were staying. It was a chilly December morning, but the excitement made it easy to power through the early call time. First Stop: Lower Antelope Canyon Despite the cold, this was a surreal experience. The canyon itself is like walking through a natural sculpture. The rock formations, colors, and light play were incredible, and our guide was a local Navajo who shared both geological knowledge and cultural insights. It was humbling to learn how the Navajo people continue to care for and protect these sacred lands. Second Stop: Horseshoe Bend After a short, scenic hike, we arrived at the famous overlook. Photos truly don’t do it justice. The view of the Colorado River curving like a horseshoe around the sandstone is breathtaking, and the sheer scale of it left us speechless. It’s one of those moments where you just have to pause and take it all in. Third Stop: Grand Canyon South Rim We arrived just in time for sunset, and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to experience the Grand Canyon. As the sun dipped lower, the colors of the canyon walls shifted—deep reds, purples, and golds washing over the vast landscape. It was cold, yes, but the chill only added to the atmosphere. Standing there, watching the light change over something so ancient and immense, I was in complete awe. It’s called the Grand Canyon for a reason—it’s truly grand in every sense of the word. After a long, fulfilling day surrounded by some of the most stunning landscapes in the U.S., we made it back to Las Vegas just in time to catch the Strip at its most vibrant—glowing lights, bustling energy, and that classic Vegas vibe. Finally I saw the beautiful Antelope Canyon with my own eyes! I had only seen photos of it before, but this time, seeing this magnificent canyon up close with my own eyes and touching the surrounding rock walls and gravel with my hands, it felt unreal. Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in northern Arizona, USA. The sudden increase in rainfall brought by the monsoon caused flash floods, which eventually eroded the sandstone to form a unique canyon landscape. Currently, Antelope Canyon belongs to the Navajo Reservation. If you want to go there, you must first apply online and purchase tickets, or participate in a local one-day tour. My feeling after visiting Antelope Canyon is that it is a must-visit attraction in my lifetime. Located just outside the town of Page, AZ in a real "blink and you'll miss it" location is the magnificent Antelope Canyon. I had been wanting to visit it here for many many years but had never travelled that far east on my trips to Arizona. Lucky for me I had a couple of days spare after visiting the Grand Canyon South Rim that we decided to make a pit stop to explore this natural wonder. I couldn't believe how many other were doing the same thing. The line up to enter that canyon was long and we waited a good hour to get down in to the floor of the canyon itself (it is single person ladders to enter which is why it took so long) but once we were in it was absolutely breath taking. Despite the number of people visiting we didn't feel cramped or rushed. I tried to get that particular Microsoft background image photo but after taking the images above I had to put the camera away and just enjoy the beauty of this place in full. Not through a camera lens. A lot of the people we passed while exploring the canyon seemed to be glued to the cameras trying to get that perfect shot. Arriving in Page after traversing the red earth guided by the wind, I encountered Antelope Canyon. It was not just a simple canyon. Through the narrow, winding paths, a single beam of light descended from the sky. When that light painted the rocky walls, it felt as if time had come to a standstill. At Horseshoe Bend, I gazed at the river winding below my feet. At Monument Valley, I silently watched the crimson sunset blaze. And then there were the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. Standing before these landscapes shaped over tens of millions of years, even the smallest breath felt cautious. Emotions that cannot be captured in a single photograph. My wife and I joined a 4-day tour in mid-May to visit the Grand Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend, among other places. The tour started in Los Angeles, with accommodations in Las Vegas on the first night. On the second day, we visited Lower Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon Dam, and Horseshoe Bend. The third day was dedicated to the Grand Canyon, followed by a return to Las Vegas for another overnight stay. On the final day, we traveled back to Los Angeles by bus. Here are some key points to note about the trip: 1. Each day’s itinerary involves staying at a different hotel, and the morning meeting times are quite early. The earliest was at 6:30 AM, and the latest was on the final day at 7:30 AM. Since the hotels change daily, you’ll need to allocate time in the morning for packing and getting ready. 2. On the first day, there are multiple meeting points to choose from. We opted for the Sheraton San Gabriel location, but this requires you to be a hotel guest. We stayed at the hotel for two nights, partly to adjust to the time difference and also because it allowed us to meet at 7:45 AM instead of 7:00 AM. If you don’t need to adjust to the time difference, you can consider meeting directly at Las Vegas Airport at 1:30 PM. For the return trip, we chose to skip the final afternoon itinerary and head straight to the airport to fly back to Los Angeles. This saved us time for rest, and the flight tickets were reasonably priced at around HKD $800-900 for two people. If you plan to take a cab from downtown Los Angeles to a nearby airport hotel in the evening, it might cost around HKD $500-600. 3. Carefully read the tour’s pricing details. The tour fee only covers the bus and three nights of hotel accommodations. Entrance fees are additional, as are optional activities like shows in Las Vegas. If you have the energy and interest, attending a show in Las Vegas is quite worthwhile since transportation is included, making it hassle-free. Regardless of your choices, make sure to prepare enough cash in advance. 4. Personally, I found Lower Antelope Canyon to be the highlight of the trip. The tour involves some steep ladders and narrow paths, so it’s not suitable for those with mobility issues. However, if you can manage, it’s highly recommended. The scenery is stunning and unique, and the local guides are professional. You can also engage in cultural exchanges to learn about the local heritage, which is far more enriching than just taking photos. 5. The Grand Canyon is worth visiting, but keep your expectations in check. Due to its vast size, the tour only stops at two points for quick visits, which is enough to fulfill the “been there” experience. 6. Depending on your preferences, you might consider spending a few days exploring Las Vegas on your own and then joining a 1-2 day tour for sightseeing. This approach offers more flexibility and might better suit your needs.

A one-day trip during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday can include visiting two amazing attractions in Page! The first spot is Lower Antelope Canyon, which is as stunning as the legends say. The entire tour lasts about an hour. Every second of the view seems the same, yet every second you'll feel the urge to take photos because it's just breathtaking! The second attraction is Horseshoe Bend. It's incredibly hot here—the sun is absolutely scorching! But it's still unbelievably beautiful 💛💛💛. These two places together are truly a feast for the eyes 😽. Interestingly, Page is located on a time zone boundary, so the time on my phone and my friend's phone differed by an hour 🤣. You can enjoy the unique topography and scenery as you descend underground and walk through a narrow passage with steps. Participating in a tour led by a Navajo guide is a must. Lower Antelope is less crowded than Upper Antelope, and I was told that you can enjoy the beauty of nature in a quieter space, and it was amazing! ! First, you go down the stairs to the bottom of the canyon. It gets cold suddenly, so it's best to dress warmly. From the moment you descend, the view is out of this world. The wave-like patterns created by nature were mysterious and so beautiful that I can't put it into words. I'm glad I came! ! The Navajo guide was very funny, and he took photos of all the participants diligently. It was a perfect tour with great consideration. I would like to go again if I can!!! After this, we moved to Horseshoe Bend. Horseshoe Bend is where the Colorado River makes a sharp curve like a horse's hoof. It is one of the spectacular views created by the wilderness of the American West, and appears in many commercials. The spectacular view from the cliffs over 300 meters high is truly breathtaking.
