After a full year in Chengdu, I finally visited the Hakka Tulou in Luodai Ancient Town, the same one featured in *Big Fish & Begonia*. I didn't realize this was a thousand-year-old town! 🧐 Strolling along the quaint streets, I saw many young ladies adorned with beautiful hairpins. I sampled local snacks and enjoyed a cup of covered bowl tea by the lake. The ancient town is very large and divided into several areas where you can stroll around slowly. It feels like a completely different world in the morning and at night! In the morning, the ancient town has a very peaceful feeling, as if time has stood still. At night, the lights are brightly lit, the crowds are packed, and it is lively and joyful! The customer service center is still under renovation, so I can only take a photo of the reflection in the water as a souvenir. You must also visit the nearby Hakka earth buildings! 洛带古镇景区 or Luo Dai ancient town. From name it's clear this spot is located near to Luo Dai Great Wall (a few stops by bus). From the Chengdu center it is little bit far, requires long trip. The place is no doubt new made location for tourists. The old city is newly built ancient styled mentions and casas. Not a lot people are hanging out here. Generally, the place is expecting you just buy some gifts and take a lunch when everything is overpriced.

Chengdu Luodai Ancient Town, the first Hakka town in the west is located in Longquanyi District of Chengdu. It is known as the first town of Hakka in western China. The ancient town is Qingshiban Road, and the streets are lined with Hakka style. The Hakka circular houses, a World Heritage Site, are located in Fujian Province, China, but I also found one in Sichuan Province. It is located in Luodai Ancient Town, about an hour by bus from Chengdu. In addition to the Hakka circular houses, a quaint old town remains. I visited in the morning, but it must be beautiful at night when lit up with lanterns. Was an extremely hot day. Catch local girls dressed up in traditional wear taking photos at this town. Amazing architecture with a Hakka Musuem. It can be a drive (out of the way) but worth the trip. Limited food stalls as many are closed. Good to check out which days all the stalls are open for a totally immersive experience. Good experience for me and my family. :)

However, the alleys are narrow and there are many people, so it is difficult to expect a quiet atmosphere.
