Hello, today I will share an overview of Brunei and my experience of my first trip to Brunei. Before going, you must have the Bruhealth app and fill out an E-Arrival form. You must have a clear accommodation, a return flight ticket, and specify the date. Then they will ask how much money you have with you, including both your card and cash!! Brunei does not have Grab. There is only Dash, which is a bit expensive. Actually, many things here are expensive. A can of Coke costs $1. In restaurants, it will be around $2-$4Bnd. The currency here is Singapore (SGD). What I noticed is that there seems to be no scanning to pay. There is only card payment (like ATMs in our country). There is the BIBD app for people here. Brunei's national food is Ambuyat - Ambuyat is a sticky sago flour that you roll with chopsticks and dip in a sauce made with durian. Then you can swallow it. First thing you will be surprised is in fact they almost have NO public transport in the city. Everyone has their own cat to o around the city. This one that makes me frustrated as a tourist 😆 what a thrill hahaha Secondly, you can absolutely use Singapore Dollars as well for any transaction in the country as they have signed a memorandum for both country to use SGD currency in the country that is legal. You get to build your own meal—feel like having some grains with meat and veggies? They’ve got an excellent variety. Just want proteins alone? Go for it! Loved the variety, and everything tasted amazing. I would definitely eat here again when I return to Brunei. Loved it!

Service was good and this is also an establishment that uses QR code menus. We tried their set lunches and they were yummy.Excellent service, reasonably priced, perfectly located at Batu Bersurat.

#hiddengems Located at the new row of shophouses right before the HQ of Baiduri Bank, Gadong. This cafe has a more cozier vibe with loads of space to chill with your family and friends! This is my 1st trip there. It was recommended by my friend. The cakes are generous in size and yummy. The Barrista is very friendly. What a little gem of a cafe, great coffee, great vibe and lovely staff!

#hiddengems Phong Mun is the oldest Chinese restaurant (non halal)in town, specializing in Chinese cuisine. They have a wide range of dishes including roasted meats & dim sum, and can prepare special banquets(with advance notice). Many local Chinese consider dim sum the best in town. One of my favorites there is their Dim Sum, the dim sum with pork skin. This is one of those Chinese Restaurants that maintains its standard and quality of food over the past many decades, though the place and deco is a bit tired. There are fine views overlooking the water village. Highly recommended !

#hiddengems We had our breakfast here, the environment was great, nicely arranged, with outdoor seating. The food is elegant, pleasant with a scrupulous and lovely taste. This place opens at 7am has a range of breakfast options. Food is delicious. Usually full house with limited tables. We tried fried rice and Shakshouka with lamb. The fried rice is super yummy and Shakshouka with lamb is above average. We tried vegetarian Shakshouka, it was awesome. Most tables were booked and reserved for lunch as early as 10am . Highly recommended.

#weekendgetaways This bridge is Brunei's Icon.It is named after Queen Saleh (wife of the present sultan). It was officially opened on October 14, 2017, as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Sultan government. An awesome structure here in Brunei. Fantastic view from the bridge. There's a pedestrian walkway on both sides of the bridge for those who prefer to cross on foot. We cross it via walking during sunset. It connects the inland village and capital of the country. It helps the growth of both places and saves travel time for the citizens. Great place for photoshooting for Kampong ayer scenery and city life. Highly recommended.

#hiddengems Found this little hidden gem of a Sichuan (Chinese Cuisine )restaurant at Gadong area. The food was good, and the prices were reasonable. The menu had a good variety, and the service was quick. We like their mapo tofu and pork ribs. Authentic taste and great ambience.The staff are friendly. We will definitely come back & explore more dishes. A real hidden gem.

#hiddengems Located in Gadong Batu Bersurat. There are many choices of restaurants here. Coco Café is one of the newer and more comfortable places. The food selection is not too bad – you have choices of western and Asian dishes. Lovely ambience, love their lunch set! The lunch set is yummy and comes with a complimentary drink and salad/ soup of the day. Worth it. Great place to meet friends or simply dining with family. Highly recommended!
