Take a bus from Goreme to Konya It doesn't seem like a tourist destination that many tourists visit But if you go straight from Goreme to Antalya It seems too long, so I stayed in Konya for one night and stopped by. Actually, there wasn't much to see or anything special I just stopped by because I thought there was a place like this. Because it is the place where the poet Rumi lived and concluded his life in! 👳🏽♂️🇹🇷 In Türkiye, Rumi is known under the name “Mevlana”. At first when we arrived, we weren’t sure who everyone was talking about. But soon we realized that this was the poet Rumi!📜 In the museum, you can see the resting place where Rumi’s body is laid, which is a large box surrounded by beautiful adornments. 🪦 Also, there are the graves of others close to Rumi, and many of Rumi’s personal artefacts and literature! 🧥 One of the COOLEST parts of this museum is a box which belonged to Rumi, which has little holes in the display case (see the photo). The reason for the little holes is because if you put your nose near them, you can still smell the oil that Rumi wore as perfume! 🤯🍶 This museum is such a gem, and was one of the highlights of our trip to Türkiye! The Mevlana Museum is home to a Dervish school whose mission was to persuade the Christian population of Anatolia to convert to Islam. The school was founded in 1774 by the Islamic mystic Mevlana Gelaleddin Rumi. Rumi traveled to Konya at the invitation of the Seljuk Sultan to write mystical poetry in Persian. He was appointed as a philosopher at the court of King Aleddin Daykubat. He met the Islamic priest Semsi Tebrizli and together they devised a method of meditation by walking in circles while listening to the reed flute. Today, this dance is still performed on December 17th every year, as it is the day of Rumi's death, and is considered a festival in his memory. They believe that it is a way to purify the soul, in the hope of meeting God and becoming one with God. The top of the mosque uses bright green tiles, also known as the Green Top Mosque. During the period of the Selju Empire, there were 170 religious schools nationwide, but the center was in the Green Mosque of Conya. The mosque is actually a comprehensive school. It takes 1000 days to go to school here. The school offers 18 majors. Students choose different majors according to their own preferences, such as music, reading Qur'an, spinning dance, etiquette, Persian, Arabic and Turkish.
