Located in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, at the northern end of the Izu Peninsula, it is a transportation hub connecting many popular cities, offering visitors a series of exciting journeys. Upon arriving in Mishima, a visit to Rakujuen Park is a must. Once a royal garden, this municipal park is lush with trees, and the Kohama Pond is formed by spring water, with its water level changing with the seasons. During the dry season in winter, the exposed lava presents a unique landscape. Strolling through the park feels like traveling back to the Meiji era, experiencing the tranquility and elegance of that time. Mishima Taisha Shrine is an unmissable cultural landmark. As you step into the shrine, the magnificent architecture comes into view, with carved beams and painted pillars telling ancient legends. Behind the main hall, a large sacred forest is tranquil and deep, and the deer in the deer park on the east side are lively and cute, adding a touch of vitality to this ancient shrine. For those who want to enjoy natural scenery, the Mishima Skywalk is the perfect choice. This is Japan's longest pedestrian suspension bridge, with a total length of 400 meters. Standing on the bridge, you can take in the majestic Mount Fuji, the deep Suruga Bay, and the beautiful Izu Mountains, as if a stunning landscape painting unfolds before your eyes. You can also experience the thrilling high-altitude zip line, feeling the wind whistling past your ears, or shop leisurely at the "Sky Garden" store, surrounded by hanging flowers. After sightseeing, be sure to try the local specialties of Mishima. Eel is the signature dish here, thanks to the pure spring water from Mount Fuji, which makes Mishima eel tender and fresh. At local eel rice shops, order a grilled eel, with its golden crispy skin and tender, juicy interior, paired with sauce and rice, each bite is full of happiness. There's also the "Mishima Croquette," made from high-quality local "Mishima Potatoes," with a delicate texture and just the right sweetness. Different shops offer unique flavors, worth exploring one by one.

I went to Rakujuen, which is a one-minute walk from the south exit of Mishima Station! Rakujuen has a natural pond called Obama Pond, an animal park where children can enjoy themselves, and a ride park. There were also friendly alpacas in the animal park!! The garden, which is made up of natural forests around it, is designated as a national natural monument and scenic spot, and you can see the lava (Mishima lava flow) that flowed out when Mt. Fuji erupted about 10,000 years ago! Obama Pond has a long dry season, but when I went there, it was full! The garden is well maintained, and you can enjoy seasonal flowers and other things! Depending on the season, you may even be able to see the beautiful white flowers of the waterweed blooming in the water! Rakujuen Park is located in the heart of Mishima City, Shizuoka, Japan. It is most lively during Autumn when the locals hold their annual Autumn Festival. During that time, the locals hold a Flower Exhibit contest where they build statues and architectures made of and decorated with flowers as in the picture. #summervacay I recently visited Rakujuen Park in Mishima, drawn by a sign at the entrance proudly proclaiming it one of Japan's Top 100 Historical Parks. With such a title, and a ¥300 entrance fee, I expected something exquisite. However, the moment I stepped inside, I was genuinely shocked. The bridges spanned over dry riverbeds, and the Kohama Pond was completely parched. The entire park seemed utterly devoid of scenery! Perhaps it's at its best during cherry blossom or autumn foliage seasons, but in summer, there was simply nothing to see. After a quick look, I did some research and found that it was once a Japanese Imperial Garden, holding significant historical value. Still, there was nothing visually appealing to linger for, so I quickly left. Mishima City Park Rakujuen is a park located right in front of Mishima Station 🛝 It's apparently a famous spot for autumn leaves, but there's a small zoo so you can enjoy it even in the summer 🐖 There are capybaras, red pandas, horses, prairie dogs, and more, and they were all very cute! A couple's trip to Izu Shuzenji Onsen for 2 nights and 3 days. We took the Shinkansen to Mishima Station. Before transferring to the Izu Hakone Railway, we went to Rakujuen in front of Mishima Station. The admission fee of 300 yen is a great deal that can only be achieved by a city-run facility.
