Chew Jetty, another great landmark of Penang, is a World Heritage-listed fishing village. Most of the residents are Chinese who migrated from Fujian and Guangzhou in 1882. There are 6 jetties, all named after the surnames of the founders. The style is an old Chinese-style wooden house that juts out into the sea, decorated with street art for visitors to take pictures. Over there, you can see many traditional houses that are made of wood and wooden platforms. There are also Tan Jetty and Lim Jetty which are all Chinese surnames. This jetty is only one amongst hundreds popular heritage sites in Penang. It's amazing to know that this water side village established from 19th century, and their ancestor originally came from several China's village. No entry charged, we just need to maintain our manner and attitude during visit. Souvenir shops and ice cream stalls everywhere. The infrastructure is still well-maintained, clean and organized. #malaysia I recently had the privilege of heading to Penang in Malaysia for work! I had a day off and decided to head to Chew Jetty for a stroll after a scrumptious breakfast. The Chew Jetty is made out of stilt houses built around a walkway in a waterside village. Thus jetty dates back to the 1800s! The jetty offers a perfect mix of tourism, history and also a village. The views from the jetty were phenomenal, with a view of the vast sea and Penang bridge. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to ride one of the resident’s boats and pet their cats!

The community living on Chew Jetty welcomed me with open arms. Initially, I wanted to make a post about Chew Jetty itself. But I was a bit disappointed by how lacking it was. Instead, I’ll talk about the journey from Armenian Street to Chew Jetty, as I did manage to find really interesting art and stores along the way. The walk from Armenian Street to Chew Jetty is about 10 minutes. It’s not directly next to each other, but really close. Along the way you’ll see various street art and some traditional old school stores that sell bread and biscuits. The store in the first picture even sold herbal hard boiled eggs! Although it’s just a 10 minute walk, we spent about 30 minutes along the journey just shopping around and stopping to take pictures. Overall a really great experience as it was interesting to see and observe these things around us. The jetty was interesting but not as impressive as I expected it to be. It’s rather small, and it isn’t really a jetty per se. More like a village standing on poles. The pathways were just planks nailed together and houses connected to these pathways only had a 20cm width worth of plank to balance across to get home. Besides that, there’s nothing else. Beautiful and stunning view in night. You can come to visit here located at penang before 9pm. Walk and feel the environment when night because it relax and not busy in a day. Actually there are a boat if you want to ride but only operated before 7pm i think (forgot already!) . Chew jetty is a floating village comprised of wooden houses on stilts still inhabited by Chinese families and was established in the mid-19th century. We walked to Chew Jetty after a day of exploring George Town. It was already dark by then, but we were able to go inside and walk around before closing time at 9pm. This an interesting floating Chinese village along the coastline. There are few clan jetties villages using local Chinese surnames and Chew Jetty is the one with most tourists visited. Chew Jetty is one of six wooden Clan Jetties in George Town on Penang. These jetties feature buildings and are currently inhabited by members of Penang’s Chinese immigrant community. Over time different Chinese family groups, known as clans, took over control of each of these jetties and fees needed to be paid to the clan in charge to use the jetty. How to get there - From Komtar building in Penang, you can walk in 2 ways: take the bus cat (free shuttle bus) or take the paid bus line that has the Jetty A sign and walk to Chew Jetty Market for about 150-200 meters. Tourist attractions - It is a fishing village by the sea. There are many souvenirs and souvenirs. And the price is cheaper than Penang Hill, cheaper than the Penang Street Art area. If you are someone who loves to travel to places to look for wall mural, penang has a street filled with wall mural paintings, it's an entire street filled with street art. There are a few streets here filled with this wall paintings, one of which is at Weld Quay, while the others are at armenian street and AH Quee Street. You be able to find cool interesting panting like kids riding on a bicycle, kids standing on a swing prop that's being integrated into the walls and many others. Throwback to the Penang Trip! It was awesome discovering another part of the city which I can say more like fishermen village. Very unique place to go into, can be said as tourist site but nothing much to do. If you can find someone to talk with like one of the fishermen who can explain the living situation and how to catch fishes then it will be better. People here can speak hokkien and bahasa malaysia but more like Indonesia as influenced by the people from that country. To get there can be by public or online taxi. #penang Staying next to an attraction has its perks! You don't need to wake up early and still get to see the sunrise! With the Chew Jetty just right opposite my accommodation, I strolled over to grab a light breakfast before the morning exploration. The alleys were still empty when I arrived and was able to do a hyperlapse walkthrough to the end of the jetty. People are very nice and helpfull. I once get lost in Georgetown but very lucky to have one marriage couple to help me. Foe the picture i was go to Street art and Chew Jety. The view is very beautiful. I sure will travel to penang again.
