The Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, built in 1910, was built by Prince Albert I, who was extremely enthusiastic about oceanography. It was originally designed as an art and science museum. The museum houses a variety of beautiful and strange fish, as well as various and bizarre marine animals from all continents, as well as some diving equipment and model ships. Marine biologist JCousteau has a research center here. The newly constructed "Shark Reef" is a giant 450-cubic-meter pool with colorful coral reefs and a wide variety of marine life. From the facade to the interior decoration, the architectural style of the entire museum reflects a strong maritime atmosphere. Since its opening on March 29, 1910, this ocean paradise of more than 6,000 square meters has become famous overseas. In this museum, which is only 85 meters above sea level, tourists can enjoy more than 6,000 kinds of marine life. From an aquarium to a collection of natural history exhibits, from a shark pavilion to Turtle Island on a panoramic terrace, the museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn how to know, love and protect the ocean. The founder once hoped that the museum would "combine the two major forces of human civilization, art and technology", so the museum also hosts large-scale contemporary art exhibitions, such as Damien Hirst, Huang Yongping, Mark Dion or An exhibition of works by masters such as Marc Quinn.
