Whenever the family visits Japan, we make it a point to include at least one local factory tour — it’s such a signature Japan experience. On this trip to Okinawa, we chose to explore the Orion Beer Factory, and it didn’t disappoint. Before arriving, we made sure to book our factory visit online, which is required. Upon reaching, we found ample free parking just across the road from the brewery — very convenient for those driving. We brought along our booking slip and registered at the Level 1 counter. From there, we were directed upstairs to the waiting area. The best part? The tour is completely free! A friendly guide led us through the facility, sharing fun facts about the brewing process and the history of Orion Beer. The walk was short and sweet, around 20 minutes, with interactive and visual exhibits that made it easy to follow even for non-beer enthusiasts. The tour ends at their onsite café, where we were each offered two free glasses of Orion beer — super refreshing, especially under Okinawa’s warm sun. Non-drinkers and kids were thoughtfully given soft drinks. There’s also a souvenir shop next to the café filled with Orion merchandise, snacks, and limited-edition items. All in all, it was a great experience — informative, relaxing, and a little bit boozy in the best way. After paying the tour fee, those who drive will be given a driver sticker. At the end of the tour, you will be given fruit beans and drinks. Drivers cannot choose alcoholic drinks, but they can choose un-iced beer to take away. Each person can choose 2 drinks. You can drink one first, take one away, or drink both on the spot.
