The Parthenon is right outside of downtown Athens! This time, I took a morning walk from a nearby hotel, and headed there as soon as the gates opened. As I walked up the stone steps, I could see the huge Parthenon and the Athens cityscape right in front of me, which was very impressive. [Sightseeing Tips] ○Morning is recommended! →I had heard that it gets very crowded during the day, so I arrived about 20 minutes before the gates opened. Dozens of people were already in line at this time. In the afternoon, it seems that it gets too crowded and you can't get in, or you have to wait for several hours. ○Buy tickets in advance →I went before the gates opened, but there was quite a line at the ticket booth. I also finished sightseeing in about an hour, and when I passed by the entrance, there was quite a line, so I think it would be smooth to buy tickets online in advance. ○Bring drinks →It's larger than I expected and has ups and downs, so drinks are a must. I forgot to drink something when I left the hotel, so I thought about buying some on the way, but there are hardly any around the ruins, so it's better to buy some in advance and take them with you. Amazing trip to the acropolis. This is definitely “must visit” place in Greece. You will be exited of seeing all this huge ancient buildings made of pure marble. Big respects to the team who are working on the reconstruction of the sites, you can see a big jog they have done where the “Snow White” marble parts are, these are the new ones. I highly recommend to enter the acropolis from the main entrance despite huge lines for tickets and to the entrance also! After you enter go direct to Parthenon and to the view square with Greek flag to see the Olymp and little part of stadium, after the best way is to go down and see the theater and head to exit! have a nice trip and stay in Athens #athens #parthenon

Even though I thought I left early, by the time I arrived before 10:00 AM, the place was already packed with tour groups, which was quite surprising 💦. It seems like no matter what time you visit, the site is always crowded with people...💦. This world-famous tourist destination had some scaffolding set up for restoration work, which felt a bit unfortunate (?). The people of the 5th century BC were truly remarkable, utilizing their wisdom and technology to construct such a massive temple on a hill (almost a cliff) overlooking the city of Athens. I had always imagined the Parthenon Temple as a solitary structure perched on a hill, but seeing it up close, it was far larger and more impressive than I had imagined. I hope to visit again during my lifetime to see how much progress has been made in its restoration.

Climbing the hill was surprisingly manageable with the cooler temperatures, and every step felt like a step through time. When I reached the top and saw the Parthenon, it genuinely took my breath away — not just for the scale, but for the sense of ancient grandeur that still lingers. From up there, the view over Athens is incredible — a sea of white buildings stretching out to the mountains and the sea. I took my time soaking it all in, imagining how this place has stood strong for over 2,500 years. It’s awe-inspiring, to say the least. 30 euros per person. You are required to queue up 30 minutes early, but you don't have to queue up if you arrive a little later. If you arrive early, you will be punished to stand there. I hid my drinks in my bag, and the ticket inspector found mine. A direct tribute to Wang Baoqiang. It's just a ruin, but the view down is really good. If you want to go to the Acropolis Museum below, you need to buy an extra ticket.

Visiting Greece in January to avoid the peak season! While summer is the peak season for Greece 🇬🇷, the recent European summers have become unbearably hot 🫠 and overcrowded, making it difficult to take good photos. So, I decided to visit during the off-season! It was the perfect choice—less crowded, warm even in winter, and overall a great experience! Although off-season travel can be challenging if the weather is bad, Greece in winter is often sunny ☀️, so the weather wasn’t an issue. One unexpected perk of the off-season was the abundance of cats 🐈⬛🐈! You encounter cats every few steps, and there are more cat encounters than human ones! 😂 Hotels are also cheaper during the off-season! In Athens and Santorini, you can stay at 4-star or 5-star hotels for around 10,000 yen per person. I stayed at the Grecotel Pallas Athena in Athens, which had stylish rooms. I spent two nights there before heading to Santorini, stayed two nights in Santorini, and then returned to Athens for one more night. Leaving your suitcase at the Athens hotel and traveling light to Santorini is highly recommended! Note that some hotels in Athens don’t offer luggage storage, so make sure to confirm this in advance. Breakfast was buffet-style, and I couldn’t resist eating a lot because it was so delicious! On the morning of the Santorini trip, we left early, so we requested breakfast boxes in advance, which the hotel prepared for us. To get to Santorini, you can usually choose between a ferry 🚢 or a flight ✈️, but ferries don’t operate during the off-season, so flying is the only option. Booking your flight early is recommended. Transportation from the airport to the hotel is limited during the off-season, so it’s best to book a taxi 🚕 in advance. We booked ours just a few days before arrival. In Santorini, we stayed at Ducato di Oia, a cave-style hotel often chosen for honeymoons. Some rooms come with heated pools or terraces, offering a variety of options. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend it! The only downside of traveling during the off-season is that many restaurants are closed. In the area we stayed on the island, only three restaurants were open. 😂 Despite this, I highly recommend visiting Greece during the off-season—it’s an incredible experience!
