— The Purple (Morada) Line is a high-altitude night view route connecting La Paz and El Alto —
📍 [Route/Access]
The Purple Line (Línea Morada) is a 4.3km long route that connects Utjawi Station (San José) to the El Alto highlands via Tiquira and Faro Murillo. This section travels from about 3600 to 4000m above ground in one go .
🕰 [Time to enjoy the night view]
If you ride between 7pm and 9pm before the last train, the city lights will emerge in the darkness and you can enjoy both the cable car and the night view. The service runs from 6am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and from 7am to 9pm on Sundays.
⸻
✨Recommended points
• The difference in elevation and the city lights that spread across the entire slope create a fantastic world that seems to float in the air.
• The Morada Line has an elevation difference of about 490m, so you can enjoy the night view from a higher place than other routes.
• The cable cars run every 12 seconds. You can take your time to experience the night view without worrying about crowds.
⸻
🎒Tips and advice
• Hold your camera or smartphone securely. The temperature drops at night, so bring some light cold weather gear.
• If it gets crowded, try going a little earlier or later. It's especially good to go earlier on weekend nights.
• You can transfer by cable car alone. You can enjoy the highland view even on the purple line!
• Grab some local snacks at the stalls or small observation points near the cable car station to make it even more special!

The mummy hunter becomes a mummy?! The Thieves' Market in La Paz
#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
La Paz's Thieves' Market... to be precise, it is a feria (street market) held every Sunday and Thursday in El Alto.
Smartphones and a single shoe are sold here, and it is said that they are stolen goods, hence the name.
You can actually get some great bargains here.
It is said that pickpockets and thieves will steal your smartphone and put it on display in the store, so be careful of theft.
It is bigger on Sundays.
It is so big that you can't see it all in one day.
Obakupro is so serious it's scary
#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
In La Paz, or more precisely in El Alto, you can see famous wrestling.
Cholitas, women of indigenous descent, wrestle seriously.
Old Lady Wrestling, commonly known as Obapro.
I had assumed it was just entertainment, but it's totally serious and a very worthwhile spectacle.
When I saw it, some of the wrestlers were bleeding.
It takes place at night in El Alto, where security is poor, so be careful on your way home.
La Paz Bus Terminal
Introducing the bus terminal in La Paz.
I think many travelers use it for night buses, etc.
From here, you can go to Puno and Cusco in Peru, Arica and Iquique in Chile, and various destinations within Bolivia.
It is very convenient as it has free WiFi and currency exchange.
There is also a ropeway nearby, so it is a good idea to ride it as soon as you arrive here.

[El Alto] Lucha Libre
Lucha libre is what we call professional wrestling in Japan.
Here in El Alto, lucha libre is also known as obapro.
Middle-aged women wrestlers fight.
They do very dynamic things, and because the area outside the ring is so spacious, they offer lots of entertainment.
It's small, but the locals and tourists alike are having a great time.

“Best view”
A small hike but you will get a best lookout

Copacabana Viewpoint
I took a boat from Puno and crossed the border to La Paz while waiting for the bus.
It takes less than an hour from the terminal to the observatory, and the hike is not that difficult.
There are many shops on the way up and at the observatory.
