#cityplaybook The most popular harbour to depart to Nusa Penida/Lembongan has to be Sanur. There are many companies to choose from; the schedule runs as early as 7am to as late as 530pm. I bought my ticket from trip.com, so I needed to exchange for the ticket at the trip office, which was more than easy to spot. However, if you are to book the ticket on the same day, over the counter it’d be double the usual price and 70% more expensive on trip counter as well; booking through easybook will instantly save you a lot of money. It’s also wiser to choose a larger ferry to minimize m sea motion sickness. Then we have to go to the harbour building to board the ferry. Compared to my last visit to Sanur, the port facilities have improved tremendously, which was eye opening to see. Plenty of clean toilet along the coastline, though most come with a small fee.

2D1N “healing but hectic” trip – full of views, stairs, and sore calves If you’re planning a quick escape from Bali and think, “Let’s go to Nusa Penida for some peace,” let me warn you: your soul will be healed, yes—but your legs will never be the same. 🛳️ Day 1: Caught the 6:30am ferry from Sanur Port (tip: the sunrise at the port is stunning and makes waking up at 4am almost worth it). Landed at Banjar Nyuh where our supir—booked all the way from Malaysia—was already waiting and plot twist: not only does he drive like a champ, know all the best spots, he also takes banger photos (is this love?) First stop: Diamond Beach 💎 The view? Magical. The way down? A stairway straight to leg-day hell 10/10 would risk my knees again. Then headed to Thousand Island Viewpoint + the famous Tree House, where the views were incredible, but my thighs were on strike. At this point, I accepted that paradise comes with a side of glute burn. Legs = crying. Eyes = blessed. Then we checked in at The Sandat Bungalow— a dreamy little hideout with only 4 huts and a pool. Gave countryside chic, gave peace and quiet, gave me a much-needed lie down. Dinner at a nearby cafe—delicious, cozy, and thankfully within crawling distance. 🌞 Day 2: Started with a relaxing breakfast at the huts and momentarily believed I was meant for island life. Then off to the big names: ✨ Kelingking Beach 🌊 Broken Beach 💧 Angel’s Billabong Every stop was stunning, slightly terrifying, and perfect for “please don’t let me fall” content. Our supir? Still snapping fire shots like he’s moonlighting as a content creator 😂 Finally made our way back to the jetty, returned to Kuta sunburnt, sandy, and walking like I just ran a marathon… backwards. But honestly? 10/10 adventure. Nusa Penida gave me sore legs, epic memories, and an overflowing camera roll. Would I go again? In a heartbeat. Would my legs forgive me? Instead, you can take a Grab to Sanur Harbour and buy the tickets yourself, or book them on Trip.com and exchange them at the pier. Local travel agencies charge higher prices and offer poor service. Booking through Trip.com can even include hotel pickup. If you don't need hotel pickup, going to the pier yourself or buying tickets directly at the pier is even cheaper. Navigate to Sanur Harbour Pelabuhan SANUR, which is the pier. Choose a company and buy tickets or exchange the QR code from Trip.com for a ticket. You'll receive a ferry pass with different colors to distinguish the ferry companies. Remember to bring it with you; the staff can recognize which ferry you're on at a glance. Large luggage can be checked in for free at the pier. After checking in your luggage, scan the QR code at the entrance to the waiting area on the second floor and board the ferry. This method is generally about 20% cheaper than booking through local travel agencies. A very cost-effective travel tip.
