Every corner of the store is not missed. Any photo is very good. The whole store gives people a warm feeling. The main photo scene is the door. The interior is relatively simple and the service attitude is super good. The products in the store are also good, and the price is also very affordable. It is not particularly expensive. I stayed at the Linden Centre (mentioned in my last post) away from the ancient town for the first two days, then moved to this B&B in the town for the next two: 🌾 Shiran Mountain Retreat 🌾 🌺 It’s absolutely gorgeous!! Every detail is meticulously designed, including the perfectly placed fresh flowers. The overall style is rustic and wooden, with earthy, textured walls complemented by wooden frames and glass, allowing sunlight to pour in from every angle, creating beautiful light and shadows—perfect for photos anytime! 🏨 The B&B has 10 rooms. We stayed in the family suite (one of two in the B&B), which can accommodate an extra bed for a child. The host told us this was the room Liu Yifei stayed in during filming. The room is incredibly bright!! It features a glass bay window overlooking the central courtyard, with lush greenery, flowing water, and a little cat—truly a hidden paradise. There’s also a small balcony with a chair, perfect for sitting and reading. 📍 The location is excellent—quiet yet convenient, just a 4-minute walk from the East Gate of the ancient town and 5 minutes to Yujin Bridge. Even better, it’s not inside the ancient town, so you can drive right to the door without dragging luggage over cobblestones. 🍜 Now, about breakfast—it’s amazing!! Compared to the Linden Centre’s breakfast, this one stands out. There are both Western and Chinese options: Chinese rice noodles or a Western-style sandwich, both delicious!! They also offer a bedtime sweet soup~ Now for the downsides: ▪️ The hardware is quite basic. The showerhead is clogged with limescale, and the water pressure is very weak, which really affects the stay. Hot water takes forever to come, and there are moments when it cuts out completely, requiring a wait before it flows again. The shower corner isn’t very clean either, with yellowing spots, and the towels are old. ▫️ The wooden structure means poor soundproofing. At night, you can hear noisy neighbors or conversations downstairs. ◾️ The room lacks blackout curtains. By 6 a.m., sunlight floods in, making it impossible to sleep in—it’s *very* bright. ▫️ At night, I spotted a giant spider on the wall (the biggest I’ve ever seen in daily life, with legs as wide as a fist) that almost crawled onto the child’s bed—utterly terrifying. ◾️ Even though we stayed in the largest room, it still felt cramped with luggage, requiring detours to move around. ▫️ The room key card is practically useless. The fence is low—anyone could reach over and open it. There’s no lock from the outside (only an internal bolt at night), so valuables aren’t secure. While the villagers are honest and the area is generally safe, you never know…

Jiangbin Park is built along the Shaxi River and is one of the most popular leisure green spaces in Sanming City. The riverside walkway is spacious and clean, shaded by lush trees, and offers pleasant scenery. During morning and evening hours, many locals come here to stroll, jog, or dance, creating a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. At night, the lights reflecting on the water add a touch of romantic charm. This visit was a wonderful experience of the harmony between nature and urban life, leaving me feeling very relaxed.

If you fall into the river or get stuck on a tree, the loss will be great🤦🏻‍♀️

Traditional Bai wooden houses have no windows on the outer side and gable walls, which are made of thick rammed earth. Only the side facing the courtyard has wooden doors and windows. Someone once said: Old houses are good, warm in winter and cool in summer. From the perspective of building energy conservation, a room has six sides. The tile roof and wooden doors and windows facing the courtyard of traditional Bai buildings must be properly treated to meet energy conservation requirements. Traditional wooden doors and windows cannot be airtight, and the tile roof is leaky and drafty. In winter, the hot air rises and escapes, and the room cannot be heated. Traditional old houses can only rely on electric blankets to maintain the temperature of the bed. We originally wanted to preserve the wooden structure of the Bai courtyard and chose aluminum-wood composite or pure wood window systems. However, our courtyard is in the core protection area, and cranes cannot enter to install the door and window systems weighing several tons. We had to choose broken bridge aluminum alloy + double glazing to ensure thermal insulation and soundproofing, but the facade is still a bit regrettable. After the wall and roof insulation was completed, we chose central air conditioning with good heating effect, and finally transformed the old house into a warm winter and cool summer house, and no electric blankets are needed in winter!

Sunbathing to relax muscles and joints I particularly like the autumn and winter in Shaxi. Besides the beautiful scenery, there is also the warm feeling of basking in the sun and sitting around the Tibetan stove together. If you have friends who like to drink butter tea, you are welcome to taste it. The most common questions we receive in winter are: 1. Will your room be very cold without air conditioning? Our room doesn't have air conditioning, but it has a heater, electric blanket, and humidifier. Every appliance is carefully selected by us to ensure that everyone can have a warm sleep! We also installed a heater in the bathroom, so we don’t have to worry about taking a cold shower. Because I am worried that turning on the heater will make the room dryer, turning on a humidifier will make it more comfortable. I suggest that you turn on the electric blanket before going to bed and turn it off when you are ready to sleep, otherwise you will definitely be woken up by the dry steam in the middle of the night (don’t ask me why I know this, haha) (As for why air conditioning is not installed, I still hope that Shaxi can reduce the impact of the greenhouse effect) 2. What is the weather and temperature like in Shaxi in winter? What clothes should I wear? It seems that the sun is shining brightly every day in Shaxi in winter, with a big temperature difference between morning and evening. The weather forecast shows that the temperature is between -3 and 15 degrees. But when it is the coldest, we basically stay in bed or in the room. When the sun comes out, it will be warm. We can bask in the sun, which is very comfortable. You can bring a down jacket or a thicker coat. It will be cooler when sitting, but it will be warmer when walking around in the sun. You can put on and take off your coat at any time. Remember to bring sunscreen because the ultraviolet rays are quite strong.

Sometimes I just want to stay in one place and relax for a few days Shaxi Ancient Town really gave me an unexpected surprise There are no crowds here. No noisy business~ Shaxi is not big, but every step is full of scenery This is where you can calm down It's worth staying for a few days and strolling around slowly It is about 2 hours away from Dali Ancient Town and 1 hour away from Shuanglang Ancient Town. It is recommended to drive there Entrance to the ancient town → Ouyang Courtyard → Sideng Street → Grandma Arui's Shop → Ancient Theater → Xingjiao Temple → Youli Grocery Store → Dongzhaimen → Yujin Bridge → Pioneer Bookstore → Shanfeng Courtyard Ancient stage: In the center of the town, with a thousand-year history, near the stage is Grandma Arui's shop Grandma Ari's Shop: This small shop in the sun is very interesting, with many interesting handmade cultural and creative products Temple Street: On both sides are low-rise Qing Dynasty houses. Walking on the stone slabs, it seems as if time has slowed down. Ouyang Courtyard: It used to be a horse inn and is a traditional Bai building. Shaxian Inn, Mountain Sparrow Inn|||We stayed at Mountain Sparrow Inn in Dongmen Ancient Street, Shaxian, on the recommendation of a friend. Before we even arrived in Shaxian, the lovely lady at the front desk of Mountain Sparrow called to ask about parking and other matters, and added me on WeChat. So thoughtful. Friends from out of town can park their cars in the playground behind the inn, which is very convenient and free. Mountain Sparrow Inn is located in the center of Dongmen Ancient Street, Shaxian. The entrance is right on Dongmen Ancient Street, which has become a must-see for tourists from out of town. The ancient street has everything you could want to eat, play, and photograph. The inn is about 100 meters across the street from the Shaxi River, where you can enjoy the ever-changing light show and water curtain movie at night. From the inn, walk about 300 meters along Binhe Road to the city center of Shaxian, where many famous traditional Shaxian snacks are located near Chiwei Lane, such as Liji Snacks. The snack stalls in Chiwei Lane offer dozens of unique and authentic Shaxian snacks such as shumai, taro dumplings, dried tofu, and rice jelly, which you can enjoy to your heart's content. In the afternoon, we walked to Qu Lane No. 1 Teahouse for afternoon tea; in the evening, we went to Half Acre of Flower Field for Western food; at dusk, we walked to the other side of the river and walked the plank road and glass plank road, where we could see the beautiful Shaxi River and the beautiful night view of Shaxi. Mountain Sparrow Inn is a renovation of two large ancient houses that are decades old, with a perfect blend of classical and modern styles. The rooms have modern smart bathrooms, which are really nice to use. The rooms are very spacious and not at all oppressive. Mountain Sparrow also prepared afternoon tea and fresh fruit for us; breakfast was also very rich, with eggs, sweet potato porridge, soy milk, fruit, etc. The short two-day trip to Shaxian went by in a flash. I stayed at Xilinyuan (previous post) far from the ancient town two days ago, and moved to a homestay in the ancient town two days later: Shiran Mountain House It's really beautiful!! Every place is carefully designed, including every flower that is matched perfectly. The overall design is a rustic wooden style, with rough earth-colored walls, matched with a lot of wooden frames and glass. The sun shines in anytime and anywhere, forming various light and shadows, and it looks good no matter what you take!! There are 10 rooms in the B&B. We stayed in a family suite (the B&B has two rooms), which can add a child's bed. The housekeeper said that this is the room where Liu Yifei's sister stayed during the filming. The lighting in the room is also very good! There is a glass viewing bay window, from which you can see the central courtyard of the homestay, with green plants, flowing water, and kittens. It is truly a paradise. There is also a small balcony with a chair where you can sit and read, which is very enjoyable. The location of the B&B is also very good, quiet and just 4 minutes away from the East Gate of the ancient town and 5 minutes' walk to Yujin Bridge. What’s even better is that it is not in the ancient town, so the car can be driven directly to the door, and it is crucial not to drag the luggage on the cobblestone road. Let’s talk about breakfast. It takes more than two hours to drive from Dali to Shaxi Ancient Town. 🌳The tree house is in the Shanfeng Courtyard of Shaxi Dengta Village 🎑It is about 3km from Shaxi Ancient Town and you need to take the small yellow tuk-tuk in the village One-way is 30-40 yuan, round trip is 60-80 yuan 🚕Since there are relatively few yellow cars coming to Dengta Village, it is best to make a reservation for a round trip. Generally, the drivers are willing to wait for half an hour. If you are driving by yourself, just use the navigation system to find Shanfeng Yard, but you can't drive to the door because the roads here are quite narrow.
