Damingfu is located in Handan City. It is the core relic of "Beijing", one of the "Four Capitals" of the Northern Song Dynasty. The existing city walls, gate foundations and moat outlines provide precious evidence for the study of the capital system and military defense system of the Song Dynasty. The city was first built during the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty. It was promoted to "Beijing" in the second year of the Qingli period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1042), becoming a strategic place to resist the southward advance of the Liao Kingdom. During its heyday, the circumference of the city wall was about 48 miles, second only to Tokyo Bianliang in size. Archaeological excavations have revealed the rammed earth layer of the city wall, brick-built drainage ditches and the cross street pattern in the city. A large number of Song Dynasty porcelain, copper coins, architectural components and other cultural relics have been unearthed, confirming the record of "high city walls, deep moats, and powerful armor and soldiers" in the "History of the Song Dynasty". It was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2013. Today, the ecological and cultural park built on the site has reproduced the magnificent atmosphere of the former "Key to the North Gate" through rammed earth display and digital restoration.
