Beside the River Thames, the South Bank is a dynamic area at the heart of London’s cultural scene. The Southbank Centre, National Theatre, and BFI film theatre are all world-class arts venues. The riverside walkway is lined with trees, restaurants and historic pubs, and is the site of frequent fairs. Currently, the Southbank Christmas market is one of the nicest Christmas markets to visit!

I love cities with rivers. I truly appreciate how I can just take a stroll along the Thames and admire London. Located at one of my favourite area by the Thames, Southbank Centre is a complex of artistic venues. It was first opened in the 1951 and there are three performance venues here. Other than concerts, musicals and festivals all year round, there are also many free events regularly held here. These are exhibitions, livestream events, poetry recitals, career fairs etc. There are also many restaurants around Southbank Centre so it is definitely great place to hang out with family and friends. In the weekend, there is even a food market so make sure you don't miss it! #celebratewithtrip #london

🧾 Morning Stumbled across a hidden second-hand bookstore by the Thames. Picked up an old Murakami and lost track of time flipping through the shelves. 🎨 Midday Visited the Tate Modern — free entry, endless inspiration. A giant, stitched-up Catbus-style installation stole the show for me. 🥙 Lunch Grabbed a hot, cheesy gözleme from the Southbank Centre food market. Street food hits different when it’s made fresh in front of you. 📍Address: Southbank Centre 🍣 Dinner A cozy Japanese bento at Eat Tokyo — fresh, filling, and fast. Just what I needed. #ramen 📍Address: Eat Tokyo Tonkosu 🚶 Evening Ended the day with a quiet walk through Savile Row, under Union Jack flags with a plane flying overhead. The Moomin house at Southbank center is the perfect place for children to play in. Encouraging adventure play and creative exploration, this house is designed based off Tove Jansson’s Moomin books but decorated by children themselves. It's called the Southbank Winter Market and it's part of the Southbank Centre's Winter Festival and one of many Christmas markets in London. As far as Christmas markets in London go, it’s one of the smaller ones, but it still offers quite a bit to do and see. If you're just looking to buy gifts, there are better markets. However, despite its small size, there are plenty of food vendors, curling and evening entertainment between the bridges, making it well worth a visit. Also, the location is very impressive with views of the London Eye and Big Ben. Market Stalls A little further from the London Eye is the Market District, where about 20 cute Alpine-style pop-up chalets are once again radiating festive cheer. Most stalls sell food or drinks, but there are also some independent vendors selling gifts. You can find a wide variety of food here, including Thai street food, duck wraps, crepes and Belgian waffles. The Duck Shed’s Christmas limited edition English Quacker duck roll is really delicious, so if you pass by, I would definitely recommend this. If you’re looking to buy gifts, you’ll find stalls selling gifts like jewelry, old maps, and beeswax candles. There are also plenty of stalls selling drinks, and mulled wine and hot chocolate are available to keep things warm and cosy as you wander under the twinkling lights. There is also a small open-air playground near the London Eye. When I say mini, it only has one ride ~~~ The Golden Carousel (cost £3.50 per person). Close to the Golden Carousel, you’ll find Between the Bridges ~~~ a seemingly massive venue featuring street food, bars, and entertainment. There is indoor and outdoor seating, lots of bars and two venues. There is no charge to enter between the bridges, but you will need to purchase a ticket to see some of the performances.
