The front desk staff greeted us with warm smiles and quickly resolved small issues like borrowing umbrellas and parking. They even proactively upgraded our room, which was truly touching. It's so beautiful here～Karst scenery Day1️⃣: Due to limited direct flights to Xingyi, we chose a direct flight from Hangzhou ✈️. In the afternoon, the weather cleared up when we arrived at the homestay - Yueqi Lishan Homestay. The owner and staff were super friendly, helping with everything from local food recommendations to e-bike rentals. After resting, we took the kids to Xu Chaqing Mountain Culture & Art Gallery for a tie-dye experience. The staff gave simple instructions and guided the kids step by step, making it a great hands-on activity. Day2️⃣: Woke up to rain but decided to visit Wanfenglin Scenic Area for panoramic views. The area offers free admission for medical workers, teachers, and students (just pay for shuttle tickets with unlimited stops). By noon, the sun came out so we visited Huasheng Villa Countryside Café - incredibly photogenic with every angle like a painting. Later, we took the kids rice paddy fishing. Initially went to popular Liu Ge's spot but it was crowded, so we switched to nearby Jusheng Huainan where we had the whole place to ourselves! The mountain backdrop made better photos though fewer fish - after nearly an hour with no catch, the kids still had fun collecting many snails. Day3️⃣: Took a morning taxi to downtown's Southwest International Hotel (new with daily replenished drinks/snacks/fruit, free laundry, and close to Mengle City). After check-in, we visited Malinghe Canyon - with kids, enter from Dachaigou entrance. Walk 100m to the canyon bridge for full waterfall views, then take left path down to Wanma Benteng Waterfall (spectacular!). Return same way and take the one-way elevator from Xiaoqingshan exit - our two kids completed the 1.5hr hike! At 6pm, experienced Bouyei ethnic wedding customs at Fenglin Bouyei village - interactive performances with candy throwing made kids ecstatic. Stayed for the 8:30pm iron-smelting fireworks show (pro tip: buy shuttle tickets early to secure seats as vehicles depart immediately when full after the show). Day4️⃣: Slept in before visiting Guizhou Dragon Fossil Museum for the kids' long-awaited fossil digging (¥68/child, free for adults). Got lucky finding an ammonite within 5 minutes! Rain cut our session short. Later, shopped at downtown specialty store "Guizhou Techanli·Tianhuasao" - the staff was extremely warm, and prices were half those at Wanfenglin (plus free shipping over ¥300). There are also unique buildings such as Qixiang Tower and Tongling Pavilion, as well as amusement facilities such as Sunshine Dream Kingdom.  - Wanfeng Lake: An artificial lake formed after the completion of the Tianshengqiao High Dam Power Station, a key national hydropower project. The lake is vast and is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. Blue skies, white clouds ☁️, gentle breeze, and lush fields 🌾. Riding an electric bike through the fields, the sense of ease and comfort is indescribable! Unfortunately, we were short on time this trip and only played for a day. There are still many beautiful sights and delicious foods we didn't get to check out. Next time, we will definitely go for an in-depth tour 💖! 📝 Here's a simple guide for everyone: 🎫 We bought VIP tickets for the sightseeing bus. There were five adults in our group (two of whom have teaching certificates, and two are born in the Year of the Dragon) and one child under 1.2 meters. My family member came back after buying the tickets and told me they paid a total of 540 yuan, possibly due to some free ticket policies. You can call the scenic area to inquire about the VIP ticket price. Our family had a private business car, and we could get off at the sightseeing spots and take pictures for as long as we wanted. After taking pictures, we could get back on the car at any time without waiting in line for the sightseeing bus at each stop. I have to say, the long lines for the bus during peak season are really scary... Moreover, the driver provided explanations throughout the trip, patiently answered our various questions, and even gave us tips on how to play and eat. The money was well spent 👏! 🛵 If you rent an electric bike, try to rent a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler with a canopy. Although my family rented a three-wheeler this time, it felt not very safe while riding and prone to tipping over. The experience of riding a two-wheeler was very good, but make sure to check the battery level in advance 🔋. 🍚 For meals, I highly recommend The taste is excellent and very friendly to the elderly and children who can't eat spicy food. is also very popular. If you are waiting to take pictures on the first floor, be sure to queue up honestly. If you walk away for a bit, the crowd will increase quickly. 🏨 This time, the whole family was mobilized, and we needed to book three rooms. The prices of homestays in the scenic area are relatively high, so we stayed at the Southwest International Hotel in the city. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to the WanFengLin scenic area. The environment is good, and the price is not expensive, around 500 yuan. I have to say, the temperature in Guizhou is really comfortable. For those who are afraid of heat, it's simply paradise 🥰. This trip, we had to consider the elderly's preference for bland food, so we didn't get to try the local specialties, which is a bit regrettable. Next time, when we come to escape the heat, we will definitely make up for it!
