Osaka|The longest shopping street in Japan, Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street, the warmest and most lively place
I used to stay in Namba or Umeda when I went to Osaka, until I discovered the longest shopping street in Japan - Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street. When choosing a hotel, I would start looking for hotels near the shopping street. At night, I would eat, drink, buy cosmetics and shop. All of these can be found on this shopping street.
This shopping street, which spans three subway stations, Minamimorimachi, Ogimachi, and Tenjinbashisuji Roku-chome, dates back to the Edo period. At that time, because of the Tenmangu Shrine, the god of learning, the surrounding area developed into a market, and farmers from all over the country would sell their crops, gradually forming a shopping street. Because Sugawara Michizane was revered as a god, this prosperous commercial road was called Tenjinbashisuji.
From 1-chome to 7-chome, the total length is 2.6 kilometers. If you march quickly, it will take 40 minutes. If you walk slowly, eat at night for a few days, and go treasure hunting in the shopping street, you will never be bored. Especially in the alleys beside the Tengo (Tenjinbashisuji 5-chome) shopping street, there is a strong Showa style, with izakayas and standing bars everywhere. When night falls, this area is very lively. In addition, there is a super low-priced supermarket "Tamade Supermarket" nearby, which can feel the deepest fireworks.
Finally, let me introduce Osaka's strongest subway line-Sakaisuji Line. This line is jointly operated with Hankyu Electric Railway and can be connected all the way to Kyoto Tawaramachi. Starting from Tenkachaya, you can transfer to other lines at each station. It is the line with the most transfer stations in Osaka. With Enjoy ECO card, you can explore Osaka in depth; or with Kansai Railway Card, which combines subways and private railways, you can not only travel all over Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, and Wakayama, but also travel all at once.
📍Address: Tenjinbashi, Kita Ward, Osaka, 530-0041 Japan
🚗If you want to visit 1-3 chome, take the subway to Minamimorimachi Station; 4-5 chome to Ogimachi Station; 6 chome to Tenjinbashisuji 6 chome.
