Dinner buffet at The Sukosol
#Songkran2024Travel
The Pathummas restaurant of The Sukosol Hotel serves international food in both buffet and A la carte. The buffet has different themes each day. We went for dinner and saw the food line as follows:
➡️ Seafood on Ice – Since it’s not Seafood Night, this line is small and not fancy. There are oysters, mussels, squids, and sea shrimp that are fresh and big enough, but they are not peeled. Guaranteed freshness and sweetness, but they are a bit difficult to eat. As for the oysters, from what I tried, they were fresh enough. There are a full range of Thai side dishes.
➡️ Various chili pastes and salads – I like this corner that presents the food beautifully, in small cups that are delicious to eat. As for chili paste and larb, they are served in a mortar and pestle, but the taste of the salads is a bit bland when they are served. It’s just good enough to eat.
➡️ Cheese – If you count them, there are 6 types to choose from. There are dried fruits, cashew nuts, and walnuts as side dishes. Cut a little bit of each. Fun to eat as a snack
➡️ Cold Cuts – There are various sausages and hams, including Parma Ham, Salami and Smoked Salmon. The quality is average.
➡️ Side dishes – Mostly Thai and Chinese dishes, with a few Western dishes and Lamb Masala as a representative of Indian food. We didn’t get to try this corner.
➡️ Grill Station – There are various meats to order and grill hot. We tried salmon and lamb. The salmon was a bit dry, while the lamb was grilled to perfection as ordered. There was a slight smell to it, but it wasn’t too strong.
➡️ Sushi and Sashimi – This is another corner that we missed and didn’t try. But looking at it, it looked quite delicious, especially the salmon sushi with thick pieces of fish on top.
➡️ Salad and Fruit – There wasn’t a lot of variety in the salad. The fruits were just average, like pineapple, pomelo and melon. But luckily, they were well-selected. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy. The fruits were beautifully ripe.
➡️ Desserts – The reason I didn’t try all the savory dishes was because I was dazzled by the number of desserts. All of them are so beautiful and delicious. I had to save some space in my stomach for this. I tried Strawberry Mousse, Green Tea Cake, Mango Mousse, Mixed Fruit Panna Cotta. In conclusion, the texture is good, smooth on the tongue. The cake is moist and soft, not dry. But the taste is sweeter than everything (not too sweet, but there is only one sweet taste). In terms of taste balance, it needs a little more.
➡️ Hot coffee - Although the buffet does not include water and other drinks, there is tea/coffee after the meal. Sipping it hot with dessert is very good.
