From Sapporo Station, take the orange subway line and get off at the final stop, Miyanosawa Station. There are clear signs along the way, so you won't get lost. However, when exiting, pay attention to the location because it’s not directly at the station. You’ll walk through an underground passage and emerge in a space resembling a public library. White Lover Park is a great spot for taking photos with kids. There’s also a service for couples to print their photos on cookies (though I didn’t try it). The park offers a wide variety of products.

Excellent accessibility & simply a "comfortable space to relax in" Located in the center of Sapporo, Richmond Hotel Sapporo Odori is within walking distance of Odori Park, the Clock Tower, and the TV Tower, and is also just a 5-minute walk from Susukino, making it easily accessible. Furthermore, it is located in the Sapporo Tanukikoji Shopping Street, which is lined with about 200 stores, making it ideal for both sightseeing and business. This time, I stayed in a room called the "Japanese Modern Premier Twin ~Popke~"🛏️ This room, which comes from the Ainu word "Popke," meaning "warm," incorporates Hokkaido's traditional culture throughout, and the calm atmosphere was impressive. What particularly impressed me was that the floor of the room was covered with tatami mats. After dinner, we walked in the snow, took pictures around Susukino. Before going to accommodation, we secretly stopped by Super 2nd Street to buy more windbreakers because the ones we brought were really too cold for the -5 degree weather 😅 14/2/68 Travel to one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hokkaido, Otaru 1 day trip 1. Otaru fish market Walk to find delicious seafood next to Otaru station 2. Otaru canal Otaru canal on a day when the snow falls, very romantic. Around the canal, there are many places to take pictures. At the beginning of the canal, there are a lot of tourists because it's where tour groups come down. If you walk up a little bit, there will be fewer people. There is plenty of time to take beautiful pictures. 3. Kitakaro Main Shop Otaru, a famous dessert shop. The dessert is very delicious. After taking pictures at Otaru Canal, don't forget to stop by and eat. 4. Otaru Aquarium, go see the penguin parade 3 times a day at 10.30, 12.30, 14.30, but we didn't make it in time for the show 😭 Date 15/2/68 Sapporo Sign Seeing Day 1. After trying the eclair at Kitakaro in Otaru and being impressed, it was the most delicious eclair I've ever had. Today, I decided to stop by Sapporo to eat it. Anyone who wants to come must wait in line. The shop opens at 11:00, only accepting 4-5 tables per round. 6. The next check-in point is the former government office, another landmark of Sapporo. Hill of Buddha, travel by subway Sapporo mainline for about 30 minutes and then take a bus for another 30 minutes, we will arrive at Hill of Buddha. This time, I finally got to try their summer-exclusive, limited-edition dual-colored sea urchin rice bowl featuring purple sea urchin and horse-dung sea urchin 🥰. Of course, I indulged in an extra portion 🤭. Among the three sea urchin rice bowls I tried during this solo trip, this one was the most satisfying 😙. I planned to have brunch here, and it turned out to be a feast 🤭. This trip to Hokkaido to photograph late-blooming cherry blossoms was perfectly arranged by "Trip.com," with hotels offering mountain views, lake views, and finally, a "garden view." The last hotel, aptly named "Sapporo Park Hotel," sits right by Nakajima Park—what a unique "garden view" indeed, a lakeside retreat. In the morning, I stepped onto the dew-kissed paths of Nakajima Park, quietly brushing past cherry groves. Sunlight filtered softly through the blossoms, glistening on pink-white petals adorned with crystal-clear dewdrops. Ancient trees, deep and lush in their early spring vigor, cradled the radiant cherry blossoms tenderly. The pond rippled gently, blossoms floating on its surface, the crisp air refreshing the soul. This serene place was once a royal retreat during the Meiji era, imbued with imperial grace. Stone bridges, ancient trees, and ponds still whisper of its elegant past. Now, time has washed away its exclusivity, transforming it into a beloved oasis for Sapporo’s residents. Joggers pace lightly along stone paths, elders practice tai chi under the shade, mothers smile at toddlers wobbling by benches, and groups of girls on holiday sit beneath cherry trees, blending into the scenery. The weight of history here melds seamlessly with the warmth of everyday life, weaving a new chapter of spring. I love shooting landscapes at dawn and dusk, so as twilight fell, I returned to the park. Dusk, nature’s master colorist, worked its most enchanting magic. The delicate pink-white blossoms of daylight now seemed dipped in layers of rouge, their hues deepening and intensifying impossibly. Near the hotel entrance, two trees that had blushed faintly in the morning now glowed with a rich, wine-dark radiance, as if absorbing the day’s light to shine with a subdued, profound brilliance against the darkening sky. This chromatic transformation, wrapped in evening mist, felt intensely magical. And all this splendor was captured perfectly by the park’s central pond. The "Iris Pond," its surface now mirror-smooth, no longer rippled as it had at dawn. It greedily, faithfully reflected the sinking sky—a canvas of indigo edged with molten-gold embers of sunset, but most breathtaking of all, the inverted cherry blossom clouds suspended in its depths! Suddenly, three wild ducks startled with a "quack," wings flapping urgently as they skimmed the water, shattering the painted stillness. Nearby, a few mandarin ducks drifted serenely through the interplay of light and shadow, their calm a striking contrast to the earlier commotion. The blossoms and water at dusk held their own quiet, mysterious rhythm. As the light faded further, I lingered, glancing back repeatedly. The cherry blossoms, now deepened by twilight, burned even brighter, their reflections in the water growing richer. The gnarled branches, dense clusters of flowers, and layered colors were perfectly mirrored, yet the water’s shimmer added a dreamlike fluidity. Dusk gently blurred the line between reality and reflection, creating a symmetrical, mesmerizing cherry blossom dreamscape. Back at the hotel, the petal-shaped chandelier in the lobby glowed brilliantly. As if heaven willed it, this "cherry blossom fate" in Hokkaido will forever bloom fully in my heart.

As a local, I’m here to recommend my top 5 picks for Sapporo miso ramen ☝️ 📍1. Shirakaba Sansou The highlight of this shop is the unlimited boiled eggs! A pile of boiled eggs is placed on the table, so you can enjoy them with a sprinkle of salt before your ramen arrives or add them to your ramen 🥰 Of course, their miso ramen is absolutely amazing ❤️ 📍2. Menya Kotetsu This shop is as famous for its fried chicken (zangi) as it is for its ramen. Ebisoba Ichigen This shop is hugely popular among international visitors for its shrimp-based broth, which is used in all their ramen dishes. One of the highlights of this trip was convincing my travel companion, who usually dislikes lamb, to give it a try. They ended up loving it and kept saying, "This is so delicious!" When I first started coming here, I insisted on dining at the main branch. However, the wait times there are quite long. Over time, more branches have opened in the Susukino area, offering more comfortable seating and much better ventilation systems. Some branches even allow online reservations. The best place for foliage and cherry blossoms in Sapporo. Includes the figure skating ice rink used in the Sapporo Olympics Makomanai Park was the main venue used in the 1972 Sapporo Olympics. “The Makomanai Sekisui Heim Ice Arena” is where the figure skater Janet Lynn charmed the people with her spectacular performance and it is opened to the public (admission fee required) during the winter months. There is a 3km circular course in the park, and is populated with runners and joggers during the summer and cross country skiers during the winter. On the 82ha park area, there are approximately 50,000 natural trees and a tree as old as 135 years. It is also a popular destination for visitors who want to enjoy viewing the foliage and the cherry blossoms. Dogtooth violets bloom in abundance in May and this is of the largest scale to grow naturally in a city park.

Moerenuma Park is designed by sculpture artist Isamu Noguchi as a work of sculpture art in itself. The park was reborn from a waste disposal site and transformed into an art park representative of Sapporo over a period of 23 years. The grand scale of this project earned it the name “landscape sculpture.” Visitors can enjoy different scenery depending on the time of the day and season. Instead of picturing yourself in a park, you should probably think of yourself as being inside a huge sculpture piece.

This massive 25.4hectare park boasts approximately 6,400 types of flowers and plants. The park features unique flowerbeds and gardens including the “World Lily Gardens,” where approximately 100 types of lilies collected from around the world can be seen, and the “World Gardens,” which comprise four different types of gardens built in collaboration with Sapporo’s sister cities Portland, Munich, and Shen Yang. From early summer to snowfall, visitors can see different flowers during different seasons. We recommend riding the “Lily Train,” which runs through the park and allows visitors to enjoy seasonal flowers from inside a comfortable train.
