[Hokkaido Lake Toya] The drive from Sapporo to Hakodate is about 4 hours, so it’s best to find a stopover☺️ Noboribetsu and Lake Toya are both in the middle. I’ve been to both places and I really like them💕 But since I’ve tried Noboribetsu Onsen last time, and I know that Lake Toya has a summer fireworks festival, I decided to stay and eat at Lake Toya this time😍 The most famous hotel in Lake Toya is of course the Nonokaze, but it was almost fully booked when I went there (except for the extremely expensive rooms 😢). Finally, I chose "Superb View Hot Spring Hotel - Toyakohan-tei" which has good ratings, is also facing Lake Toya, includes a free Sapporo shuttle bus, and has a good value for money 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Advantages: 1) There is a free Sapporo shuttle bus, which saves the fare for this section of the journey, and the bus stops at Nakayama Pass, where we unexpectedly saw snow! ! ! ☃️☃️☃️ 2) Hotel staff speak good English, are professional and polite🌈 3) The hotel has a bingo draw every night, which creates a great atmosphere and is a unique activity at Lakeside Pavilion! ⭐️ (Actually, many people won the prizes, and the prizes are so rich!!) 4) The open-air bath faces Lake Toya and Mt. Yotei, with a great view😍 5) The fireworks festival venue is across from the hotel🎇 6) Dinner is all you can eat Genghis Khan mutton. After soaking in the hot spring, you can also buy White Lover ice cream at the hotel souvenir shop! 🍧 7) There is a bus stop in front of the hotel to Toya JR Station Disadvantages: 1) There are too many tour groups. Luckily we went to the hot springs before the fireworks festival so there weren't too many people 🤔 2) Breakfast and dinner are only buffet options, the food quality is average and there are few choices PS. Our stay at Toya Kohantei Hotel was everything we hoped for—a relaxing blend of traditional Japanese comfort and stunning winter scenery. The tatami room was just right for unwinding, and we appreciated the peaceful, minimalist feel. The lobby was spacious and welcoming, with large windows offering a calm view of Lake Toya. Dinner at the in-house restaurant was a treat. The highlight? The Hokkaido beef—incredibly tender and flavorful. It really elevated the whole dining experience. The rest of the buffet was good too, but the beef alone made it memorable. The hotel’s garden looked magical in the snow, like something out of a postcard. And if you’re lucky enough to catch falling snow while soaking in the onsen, it’s a scene you won’t forget. Parking was easy, located just opposite the hotel across the street, which made check-in and moving luggage super convenient.
