Given the location, no surprise that the hotel went for the Peranakan theme. It was well executed and I loved the theme throughout the hotel (lobby, rooms and club lounge). Speaking of Club Lounge, the food was decent. The evening canapés were better than the breakfast though (in terms of taste, presentation and selection of food). The breakfast was truly underwhelming. Staff were great though, engaging in small talk, prompt in assisting orders, cleaning plates etc.. Finally, the pool was a circular shaped one, which is kind of nice to see but not that useful if you want to do laps. Pretty average, nothing much to shout about. #tripblazers #staycation

I stayed here as a solo traveler and had a really great experience. When I checked in, the staff were very friendly and efficient — and to my surprise, they upgraded me to a Junior Suite even though I only booked a standard room! The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed with a mix of modern and Peranakan style. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom had nice amenities. Lovely ice cream and cheese cake time with the kids. This small shop called ree connect just at the mall by the hotel. Taste amazing with fresh concept of cheese cakes as well. East coast area is amazing, barely see tourist but very homely and it feels like its own bubble/ village. Great experience at Village Hotel Katong! The hotel itself is situated in the same building as Katong V. They had a Fairprice store (great for getting some groceries!), a few cafes and restaurants (highly recommend: Burrata Joy & Gustavo Lapasta) It is also walkable to cafes, bars and restaurants in the Katong neighbourhood. Very foodie friendly! Walking distance to i12 Katong as well. Although the building is slightly old, I believe they had renovated their rooms so they are clean and spacious. As a regular customer at Plain Vanilla, I've grown accustomed to their $5 cappuccinos, but I've been looking for an alternative that offers a similar value without sacrificing quality. Group Therapy more than fits the bill. The cappuccinos at Group Therapy are just as delicious as those at Plain Vanilla, but the prices are as reasonable. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the cappuccinos at Group Therapy are actually just as good if not better. All in all, I'm thrilled to have finally found another alternative to my go-to coffee shop and I can't wait to visit Group Therapy at Katong V again in the future. I recently had the pleasure of trying the "Coconut Squares" at Yugoslavia Bakery & Cafe at Katong V, and I have to say, they were absolutely delicious!
