Wanghailou Church in Tianjin | Encounter History and Romance
| Encounter history and romance. When traveling to Tianjin, Wanghailou Church is a must-see! This Gothic building, full of historical charm, holds so many stories. Below, I'll share my tour route and experience👇
🚌Transportation: Take Subway Line 6 to Jinjie Station, exit from Exit B, and walk about 10 minutes to reach the church. If you prefer the bus, many routes, such as No. 675 and No. 653, can get you there. Just get off at the Shizilin Bridge stop.
🏛️Visiting Order:
1. Church Exterior: As soon as you get off, you'll see the three flat-topped towers on the front of the church, arranged in a "mountain" shape⛪. The middle tower is the tallest and particularly eye-catching. There are also gargoyles on top of the towers for drainage, a very ingenious design. The overall blue-brick walls, combined with pointed arched doors and windows, exude a strong Gothic vibe, perfect for photos📸.
2. Church Interior: Stepping inside the church, the first thing you'll notice is the two rows of columns supporting the entire arched ceiling, creating a very open space. The floor is paved with black and white porcelain tiles, making you feel like you've traveled back in time to Europe. The windows are composed of geometric patterns made of colorful glass. When sunlight shines through, the entire church is bathed in a beautiful array of colors. The main altar of the Virgin Mary is located on the north side, with pictures of Jesus' crucifixion hanging around it, creating a sacred atmosphere.
3. Choir Loft: Behind the church is the choir loft. Although you can't go up there, standing below, you can imagine the choir singing hymns here, creating a solemn and respectful atmosphere.
❗Tips:
1. Pay attention to the church's opening hours to avoid disappointment. Mass is held at 7:00 am on weekdays, and at 6:00 am, 7:30 am, and 7:00 pm on Sundays. Those who want to experience the religious atmosphere can choose these times.
2. Do not use flash photography when taking pictures, as a sign of respect for the religious site🙏.
Wanghailou Church is not just a building; it's a witness to Tianjin's history. When you come to Tianjin, be sure to visit and experience the blend of history and art💕.
