🍦 Mixue at West Coast Plaza – Great Value, But Not for Every Palate
Mixue at West Coast Plaza has been on my radar for a while—it’s hard to miss with the constant queue snaking outside the shop. Known for their insanely affordable $1 soft serve cone, I finally gave in to curiosity and joined the crowd to see what the hype was all about.
Service was fast despite the queue, and I appreciated the no-frills, fuss-free setup. There are a few tables available for those who want to sit and enjoy their treats, although it’s more of a grab-and-go kind of place.
The $1 soft serve cone is undeniably a value-for-money offering—generous in portion and photogenic in that classic swirl. But when it came to taste, I found it a bit lacking. The ice cream had a pronounced milk powder flavor, which gave it a slightly artificial edge. It wasn’t unpleasant, but definitely didn’t have the natural creaminess I personally prefer in my soft serve. That said, I can understand the appeal—especially for those who enjoy sweeter, milky flavors and are after a quick, cheap treat.
If you’re in the mood for a budget-friendly dessert and not too fussy about flavor nuances, it’s a solid option. But if you’re particular about your ice cream tasting rich and natural, you might want to try their fruit teas or other menu items instead.
Would I return? Possibly, but maybe to explore their other drinks and desserts rather than the cone.

🌶️ Mala Made Easy at Home Style China – West Coast Plaza
We had dinner at Home Style China Restaurant at West Coast Plaza and left feeling satisfied. This casual Chinese eatery specializes in customisable mala soup and mala xiang guo, where you pick your own ingredients—everything from meats to veggies—and they whip it up just the way you like it. I went with the mala xiang guo and century eggs, and both dishes were pretty solid.
What stood out was how the flavors were tailored for local palates. It wasn’t overly salty or oily like some other mala joints, making it more enjoyable without overwhelming your taste buds. The ingredients were fresh, and you could tell the place keeps quality in check.
Beyond the food, the dining area was clean and comfortable, perfect for a fuss-free family meal. Prices were reasonable too, especially considering the portion sizes and quality.
Definitely a good choice when you’re craving some spicy Chinese comfort food in a relaxed setting.

🍵 Tea Break Bliss at Toast Box – West Coast Plaza
I stopped by Toast Box at West Coast Plaza one afternoon for a tea break, and it was just what I needed. While most people come here for the kopi or kaya toast, I honestly think their hot tea is one of the best you can get at a local café in Singapore. The tea leaves they use are of noticeably good quality—fragrant, smooth, and full-bodied without being bitter.
Pairing the tea with a classic slice of buttered toast made for a simple yet satisfying treat. The café was peaceful in the afternoon, not too packed, which made it a nice little escape to unwind and people-watch.
If you’re in the area and looking for a solid tea break, this is definitely a hidden gem.

☕ Chill Vibes at Starbucks, West Coast Plaza
After a satisfying meal at West Coast Plaza, we dropped by the Starbucks there and found the perfect spot to unwind. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy to sink into conversation—or just enjoy a moment of calm. The seats are comfy, power outlets are conveniently placed, and the soft lighting gives it a cozy café feel.
I ordered my usual latte, smooth and comforting as always, while my partner went for a refreshing iced tea. The staff were friendly and efficient, so our drinks didn’t take long. We ended up staying for a good while, just chatting and watching the world go by.
It’s not just a stop—you can see families gathering, students catching up, and friends lingering over coffee. As a post-meal chill-out spot, it ticks all the boxes: comfy seats, good drinks, friendly service, and a vibe that’s laid-back without being empty.
If you find yourself full and looking for a relaxed place to linger after eating at West Coast Plaza, this Starbucks is definitely worth a visit.

🥟 Sha Xian Delicacies @ West Coast Plaza – Room for Improvement
I recently visited the newly opened Sha Xian Delicacies at West Coast Plaza and decided to try their wanton soup, hoping for a comforting, traditional bowl. However, I was quite disappointed with what was served. Instead of the usual minced meat filling, the wantons had a texture and taste that resembled fish paste, which was unexpected and not particularly enjoyable. The broth was light but lacked depth in flavour, making the whole dish rather underwhelming.
The service was noticeably slow, even though the shop wasn’t packed. It looked like the team was still new and not yet well-coordinated — from taking orders to serving food, everything moved at a sluggish pace. While I understand every new eatery needs some time to iron things out, first impressions do matter, and this one didn’t leave the best taste — literally and figuratively.
Hopefully, with time and better training, the quality of food and service will improve. For now, it’s not a spot I’d rush back to, but I’ll give them some grace as a new entrant to the mall.

🇸🇬Mochi Waffle with Assorted Icecream🧇
Nestled in a quaint corner just outside West Coast Plaza, Overscoop exudes a charming coziness. Their ice cream flavors are a delightful mix, such as the raspberry passionfruit and blueberry yogurt, and the nostalgically classic, like bubblegum and mint cookie chip. The Acai overbowl is a visual treat, served in a half coconut husk with a decorative coconut tree stick, adding to the overall appeal of the place. Shared some sweet treats with a friend, including a single scoop of bubble gum ice cream with a mini pistachio scoop, and a mochi waffle. The plain mochi provided a unique balance to the sweet and fragrant waffle.
