My recent trip to Liuba, Shaanxi, was full of delightful surprises—plenty of off-the-beaten-path attractions perfect for a road trip. On my last day in Liuba, I not only discovered the most scenic highway but also encountered a 4,000-year-old ancient ginkgo tree. 🌲 Nearby Attractions: 📍 **Zibai Mountain** – Ticket + cable car: 115 RMB Take the cable car up and down, as you’ll still need to hike 30-50 minutes after the ride to reach the summit. At the top, you’ll find alpine meadows, rolling mountain ranges, and rest areas with photo frames and pavilions. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a sea of clouds! ☁️ 📍 **Lover’s Valley** – A free attraction Just a 10-minute drive from Zibai Mountain, this forested paradise features suspension bridges and towering fir trees, making it a great spot for photos and a cool escape—perfect for families with kids. 📍 **Most Scenic Country Road** Stretching from Gaoqiaopu to Yuhuangmiao Town, this road is lined with breathtaking views. While autumn brings vibrant colors, summer offers a soothing palette of lush greens. 📍 **4,000-Year-Old Ginkgo Tree** I expected it to be tucked away in a village, but it’s right by the highway exit! The nearby walls are painted with ginkgo leaves. Though the leaves are still green now, autumn here must be stunning. 🏨 **Accommodation:** After exploring Zibai Mountain National Forest Park, we stayed at **Wufang Lanshan** beside the scenic highway. The host was incredibly kind—helping with luggage, recommending nearby spots, and serving delicious homemade farm-style dinners 🥒. Stepping into Fengxian feels like entering a hidden paradise favored by time. By the Jialing River, a gentle breeze carries the unique freshness and tranquility of the Qinling Mountains. The slow train on the Baoji-Chengdu Railway chugs along, carrying stories of bygone days. My husband and I thought the taste was quite good, and the price was also very affordable. After eating, we walked a few steps to the train station and took the train back directly. Suggestions: ①: The weather has been warm recently, and there is not much snow on the mountain. 👍 Recommended reason: Xiaozai Temple in Feng County is an ancient grotto temple embedded in the cliff of Douji Mountain in the Qinling Mountains. It was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and flourished in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is said that Zhang Guolao, one of the Eight Immortals, once lived here in seclusion. The temple was named "Xiaozai Temple" because Emperor Xuanzong of Tang prayed here to avoid the An Lushan Rebellion and his prayers were answered. However, there is no incense or food for sale in the scenic area. The above photos were taken along the road from the entrance of Cypress Mountain to the cableway, less than 1,000 meters away. Upon arriving in Feng County, one naturally wants to visit Lingguan Gorge. The motivation comes from Du Pengcheng's novel 'A Night Walk Through Lingguan Gorge'. Lingguan Gorge is located 5km off National Highway 316 in Caodian Village, southwest of Feng County, at the border of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. It is the first gorge on the Jialing River. The Baoji-Chengdu Railway snakes through it, with ancient paths hidden deep in the wild grass and shrubs. The Jialing River flows quietly, a bay of clear water reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, and the vegetation on the high mountains on both sides is dyed with the deep autumn colors, presenting a splendid and colorful scene that is breathtakingly beautiful. According to historical research, the poet Du Fu passed through here on his way from Chang'an to Sichuan. Of course, he must not have been in the mood for sightseeing. Thanks to the Baoji-Chengdu Railway and 'A Night Walk Through Lingguan Gorge', Lingguan Gorge has been endowed with some modern industrial civilization. It is currently operated as a 3A scenic area, with the themes of 'railway heritage, leisure oxygen bar, and ancient Qiang culture'. Driving to the entrance of the scenic area, one is greeted by a desolate and lonely scene, with few visitors entering. Almost everyone chooses to stroll along the riverside road without prior arrangement.
