After taking the cablecar from Xishan mountain park over Dianchi lake we arrived near to Yunnan Ethnic Minority village park. This is a very interesting place, containing many small recreation villages of different Ethnic minorities from Yunnan province. Among them are the Dai, Yi, Miao, Achang, Naxi, Bai, Shui, Pumi, Yao, Hui, Zhuang, Mongol, Jinuo and many more minority villages. Some of these are major minority groups from Yunnan and some are more minor or represented in greater numbers in other provinces or neighbouring countries to China. It was extremely interesting to walk from village to village in this park, seeing how the cultures differ in architectural style, clothing, occupations, decoration, religion and day to day life. Some minorities live in houses that are lifted up from the floor, to avoid animals living on the forest floor, some have religious temples and some have ritual activities that you can take part in. Most of the village buildings are in a distinctive chinese style but all differ in the details. There are restaurants and food stalls throughout the park where they are serving authentic cuisine from their cultures. There are also many souvenir shops where you can buy crafts and clothing made by the locals. #asiatrip

Yunnan Ethnic Village provided a mixed range of emotions. The people were really nice and getting there was really convenient with a phone but it’s just a replica or like a re-enactment of different ethnicities throughout all of China. I thought it was an older abandoned town where ethnic minorities use to live LOL. It’s just a replica. The natural sites were really pretty which made it worth it. You can see Xishuan Mountain in the background which was really cool. The lobby is decorated in a stylish way, which immediately makes you feel relaxed. The rooms are just too comfortable! The beds are soft and the blankets are skin-friendly, making you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. The details in the rooms are also very well done, with attention to detail evident everywhere. The hotel service is impeccable. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and they respond promptly to any needs. It really feels like being with family. The breakfast also surprised me. There is a wide variety of options to satisfy all tastes. In the evening, you can take beautiful sunset photos right outside the hotel. It's so pleasant! Kunming, located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, boasts three major river systems: the Jinsha, Nanpan, and Red Rivers. Around 30,000 years ago, humans began inhabiting the Dianchi Lake area. From the Warring States period to the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Dian people around Dianchi Lake established the Dian Kingdom and created the Dian culture. Chu general Zhuang Jiao and his troops arrived in the Dianchi area, but because their return route was blocked by the Qin State, they remained and Zhuang Jiao became the King of Dian. Later, during the Western Han Dynasty, the Dianchi area was incorporated into the Central Plains. The Nanzhao Kingdom built Tuodong City, which was called Shanchan City during the Dali Kingdom period. Sofitel Kunming is located on Huancheng South Road in Xishan District, near Wuhua Sports Center. I strolled to Haigeng Dam by Dianchi Lake to see the magnificent Dianchi Lake, Xishan Mountain, and the seagulls from Siberia. I had planned to fly to Tengchong, but since I hadn't booked my flight in advance, I had to try to get a ticket on Trip.com. I ended up staying at the familiar Sofitel for three more nights. The hotel offers excellent value and allowed me to experience the festive atmosphere of Kunming. I also visited the Yunnan Provincial Museum, Yunnan Nationalities Village, and Guandu Ancient Town. Everything went smoothly, and I got my flight ticket as planned. What a wonderful time! I will definitely come back to Kunming if I have the chance.
