This is the famous and beautiful 'walk-behind' waterfall we saw on our South Coast tour. The path to the waterfall has handrails and is easy to walk. But as you get closer, the path loses its handrails, and you have to climb over large wet rocks to reach a muddy trail that leads behind the waterfall. Our guide warned us that it was very slippery here. It was raining and very windy the day we went. Despite having hiking boots, we didn't want to take the risk. We weren't the only ones who didn't walk behind; many young people also decided not to. Please note that the entire path is not easy. Waterproof raincoats with hoods, waterproof pants, and waterproof hiking boots are also not easy.

The view from up there is just unbelievable, you can see the entire valley stretching out before you. 🏞️ After spending time at Skógafoss, I took a short drive to the nearby Sólheimasandur beach to see the famous plane wreck – it’s about a 10-minute drive from the waterfall and a bit of a hike to get to, but so worth it! I also visited the Skógar Museum, which was super interesting and gave me a good sense of Iceland's history and culture. I came to Iceland 🇮🇸 to see the natural scenery. Since I didn't have a car, I opted for a day tour with Trip. Iceland's day tours are incredibly cost-effective. The tour fee is all-inclusive, with no shopping and no tipping culture, making it a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The English-speaking guides provided detailed explanations of the terrain, ecology, and legends. The photo shows Gljúfrabúi Waterfall in southern Iceland. Besides Gljúfrabúi, there are other large waterfalls on the itinerary, as well as numerous smaller ones along the way. The waterfalls are beautiful, but they're all meltwater from glacial melt. After leaving the Golden Circle, although this area is less touristy, there are still plenty of accommodation options. This time, I want to introduce Boutique Hotel Anna, where you can see up to 10 waterfalls in one go. The room size is reasonable, but the bathroom is ridiculously small 😆. There aren’t many dining options nearby, so I usually eat at the hotel restaurant. The food there is excellent, especially the mussels. Among all the restaurants I’ve tried, this is the only one that serves mussels, so of course, I had to order them. The steak is tender, and I can never finish the fries 🫣. Back to the waterfalls—there are over a dozen waterfalls in the area surrounding this hotel, including several famous ones. The main reason for choosing this hotel is definitely its location. 👍🏻 As for the waterfall on the cover photo, it glows at night. At first, I thought it was illuminated by lights, but when I visited during the day, I realized there were only ground lights and no other lighting equipment. It’s truly magical 🙀. Regarding Skogafoss, if you have time, make sure to climb up the mountain. There are six or seven stunning waterfalls up there.
