We did a day trip from Manchester to Llandudno and it was such a nice break from the city. The drive took about 1.5–2 hours and was really smooth, with some beautiful views as we got closer to the coast. Once we arrived, we hopped on the Llandudno Great Orme Tramway, one of the few cable-hauled trams still running since 1902! It's a cute little tram that climbs up to Great Orme with stops along the way. We started in Cardiff, exploring the iconic Cardiff Castle (entrance around £14), before hitting the open roads to discover the country’s incredible scenery. Driving through the Brecon Beacons was a highlight—rugged hills, hidden waterfalls, and sheep everywhere you look! Snowdonia National Park was the next stop. We didn’t have time to hike Snowdon, but the drive alone offered jaw-dropping views. We took a detour to Conwy, a charming town with a medieval castle (entry was about £11). The historic vibe combined with the seaside setting made it magical. What really stood out about Wales was the peacefulness of the countryside. Every stop felt like a hidden gem, from quiet coastal towns to majestic mountains. Whether you’re into hiking, history, or just soaking up natural beauty, Wales has it all. St Fagen’s is the national museum of Welsh history located outside Cardiff, it’s a fascinating glimpse at how life was in different periods of time. The focal point of the museum js the stunning St Fagens castle, a beautifully restored 16th century castle and Manor House. You can explore the house and see how people lived in the previous centuries Then the museum opens up and it’s made up of various historical buildings rebuilt in their original form. You can visit shops, houses and even a recently rebuilt pub!
