We took part in a one-day tour of Whitehaven Beach/Hamilton Island in Airlie Beach. The free lunch was arranged at the Marina Tavern restaurant. We chose a steak and a fried fish (there were several kinds to choose from). They tasted good and the portions were large. The restaurant is on the coast, and we could dine while enjoying the scenery. From time to time, big birds would fly over, and if we were not careful, their food would be snatched away.

Eating on the island is not cheap, but this restaurant called Manta Ray is quite cheap, with an average of more than 200 yuan per person, which I think is within an acceptable range. We sat outdoors!

The portions were large but there was plenty of room for a shared plate of dessert. Delicious tiramisu and melt in your mouth panna cotta. Jasmine was our server and she was a very friendly young lady who, like the rest of the staff, clearly loved her job. The only negative thing about this place was that we lived 8 hours away by plane.
