Just got back from a 3-day trip to Sanya, and here's some honest advice... 1️⃣ Don't go for that kind of "check-off" tour! Sanya's attractions are too spread out! The bays are far apart, and trying to visit two or three places a day will leave you exhausted and unsatisfied. It's really unnecessary. 2️⃣ Sanya's weather is unpredictable. One second it's blazing hot, the next it might be overcast. Weather forecasts are also unreliable. It's best to carry an umbrella, just in case. 3️⃣ There are actually several duty-free shops. If you're unsure which to choose, head to the largest, CDF Duty Free City. If you want to buy cosmetics, Hailv Duty Free City is better; for gold, go to China World Trade Center Duty Free City! Remember to register as a member before you go to accumulate points that can be redeemed for cash. However, the points from these four places are not interchangeable, so please be aware of that. 4️⃣ Attractions suitable for the morning: Xidao Island, Wuzhizhou Island, Nanshan Temple, Tropical Rainforest Park; Attractions suitable for the afternoon: Coconut Dream Corridor, Luhuitou, Tianya Town; If you're traveling with kids, Xidao Island, Haichang Everbright City, and Atlantis Water World/Aquarium are all good options. 5️⃣ The Coconut Dream Corridor is actually 20 kilometers long, so don't just crowd around Haiyue Square. For great photos, search "Haiyun/Guoguang Howard Johnson Hotel." The expansive lawns and coconut palm-lined beaches offer excellent photo opportunities. For sunset viewing, choose Meili New Coast or Phoenix Island Bridge Park for unobstructed views and a super comfortable experience. 6️⃣【Accommodation】Choose by bay: Sanya Bay is close to the airport, hotels are older but offer good value; Dadonghai is right next to the city center, convenient for eating, drinking, and entertainment; Yalong Bay has fine sand and clear water, but is far from the city center; Haitang Bay has many five-star hotels with good facilities but are also more expensive. 7️⃣Be mindful of your attire when visiting 【Nanshan Temple】. Avoid revealing clothing. The scenic area is very large, so taking the sightseeing bus is recommended; the whole trip takes about 3 hours. If you want to pay your respects at the temple, you'll have to climb stairs. Try to go early to avoid the midday sun, or you might get sunburned. 8️⃣If your budget allows, choose a good 【sea view hotel and relax】—that's the right way to experience Sanya! Especially high-end hotels, with complete facilities, allow you to relax with ocean views and stroll on the beach every day, maximizing your vacation experience. 9️⃣ It's recommended to dedicate a whole day to Xidao and Wuzhizhou Island. Xidao, in particular, is worth staying overnight; there are many guesthouse options, and you can even go beachcombing and watch the sunrise – a fantastic experience! Wuzhizhou Island offers many water sports, but prices are also high. 10. Some of the better night markets in Sanya are: Yiheng, First Market, Ganghua, and Linwang Night Market. They sell similar items, so choose the one closest to your accommodation. 1️⃣ Beware of low-priced diving; there may be additional charges, such as extra money for fins or mouthpieces! If you're not planning on surfing, there's no need to make a special trip to Houhai Village. 1️⃣2️⃣ There aren't many food options in Sanya. After shopping at the duty-free shop these past few days, I went to Buzaike Seafood Restaurant, which was quite good. I went to several wasted photo spots at the Coconut Dream Corridor...😓 I wasn't trying to hide it, but many people searched for "Coconut Dream Corridor" on navigation and ended up in the wrong place. There are actually several hidden check-in spots there, and the photos you take at different times are completely different! ~ 1️⃣ Take photos of the vibrant ocean view at noon 📍 First, search for "Sanya Ocean Melody Hotel." There's a large lawn across the street. The sun is at its best from 10 PM to 1 AM, shining brightly on the sea like a golden dusting. No filters are needed for your photos. However, you need to finish your photos before 2 PM. After that, the sun will set and you'll be backlit, so you can only take photos from behind. 📍If the area around the Haiyun Hotel is fenced off for maintenance, don't panic. Search for "Sanya Guoguang Howard Johnson Hotel" and walk 300 meters to the spare lawn. It's less crowded and spacious, and will still produce beautiful photos. 📍There's also a more secluded area called "Nanbowan South (Haipo Nineteenth Hengxiang)." The sea there is turquoise, and the corridor is long. It's a pleasant breeze to ride a small electric scooter. It's just far from the main scenic area, so if you're short on time, you can skip it. 2️⃣ Want to see the sunset? 📍At "Phoenix Island Bridgehead Park," you need to get a higher point to capture the sunset, painting the sea orange. The crowds watching the sunset below are swaying and there's a very human touch. 📍There's a seaside promenade near the "Beautiful New Coast Bus Station." Don't drive there; parking is difficult. Standing on the promenade, watching the sun slowly sink into the sea, even the waves tinged with pink and purple, the photos look like a painting. By the way, I have to mention the 📍Wedding Photography Base. They've set up a special setting with a church and swings. Go there at noon and the sunlight will stream through the "Gate of Heaven," perfect for wedding photos or those with a short dress. You don't even have to wait for sunset to look great. After all, the Coconut Dream Promenade doesn't have to be crowded for photos. Just stroll along the coastline and stop wherever feels comfortable. The lawns and corridors frequented by locals actually hide the most natural beauty. After playing in the beach with my family the past two days, we went to Buzai Ke Seafood, which is very close to the Coconut Dream Promenade. I really enjoyed the spicy crab noodles and the sea urchin tofu pot. Adding the 3 yuan coconut treasures is a unique flavor, 20 yuan per portion. 🏖️Yalong Bay: Seafood and tea restaurants are both excellent choices. 1️⃣ Zhijia Lao Taste The seafood is braised in a spicy and sour sauce, and the fresh shrimp and clams soak up the broth. The shrimp and clams are deliciously paired with the shrimp sauce sandwiches, making them incredibly delicious! Two people ate a full meal for 150. 2️⃣ Qilou Old Street Hainan Herb Duck The duck meat is tender and boneless, and the secret herb sauce thickens with each simmer. Add a side of fried dough sticks to soak up the broth!
