Anan Saigon

The food was excellent; I ordered the Saigon tasting menu. My friend ordered several dishes. The service was perfect when ordering, though we waited a while for our first drink order. The location is good, but the lower floors are often noisy.

They were just recently named one of the best restaurants in Asia and are the only Michelin star restaurant in Vietnam. The food was excellent. Highlights included the Mekong River Prawns, Cavier Banh Nhung, Cha Ca Hà Nội (Black Cod), Bun Cha Bourdain, and the Roast Pigeon. The Black Cod went really well with the dill sauce and the Roast Pigeon/sticky rice was delicious.

The Black Cod went really well with the dill sauce and the Roast Pigeon/sticky rice was delicious (finished the whole dish despite being the last course and being very full). The Petit Four dim sum was also a surprise and delight. It included the Black Garlic Chocolate and the Passion Fruit/Coconut Macarons.

The flavours were inspired by traditional Vietnamese cuisine with a modern twist, we received a detailed menu with information from the chef as to why he chose certain flavours and ingredients, and the staff also explained each dish in detail as they served it to us.
