Musée du Parfum Fragonard

4.9/5
341 reviews
Musée du Parfum Fragonard was founded by the French perfume house Fragonard. Born in 1926 in Grasse, the perfume capital, the brand opened this museum in a Napoleon III-style mansion next to the Paris Opera as early as 1983. The museum still preserves the original furniture and decor. This building served as a theater in the 19th century, was once converted into a cycling school for Parisians, and later operated by British merchants for over a century before being fully handed over to Fragonard in 2014. Walking up the mansion's staircase while experiencing the fragrances and exhibits, the combination of classical opulence and olfactory sensations creates a unique charm that sets it apart from ordinary museums. The museum clearly explains the journey of a perfume bottle from raw materials to finished product: the curiosity cabinet displays old objects like spice ingredients, plant specimens, and measuring tools, while an interactive map takes you on an olfactory journey to discover representative fragrance materials from five continents, such as osmanthus from China, bergamot from Italy, and sandalwood from Australia. The distillery exhibition recreates the scene of an early 20th-century perfume factory, with vintage stills, old photos, and video materials demonstrating how floral materials are step-by-step extracted into essential oils. Particularly eye-catching is the perfumer's organ-shaped blending table, with rows of ingredient bottles arranged in tiered circles around a central scale, showcasing the perfumer's daily work. The collection spans from ancient Egypt to the 20th century, featuring antique perfume bottles, scent boxes, incense burners, smelling salt bottles, and travel vanity cases, revealing the craftsmanship of artisans throughout history. The visiting route follows the incense-making process. The museum is compact and can be explored in about half an hr, making it ideal to connect with your itinerary around the opera house. The olfactory exhibition features scent-identification games to test your ability to distinguish aromas. Travelers who want hands-on experience can also join the perfume-blending workshop to create their own signature fragrance under a perfumer's guidance and take it home.Paris · 12.6 km from Antony

Sunset Sightseeing in Paris

6.8
The sunset in Paris makes Paris, known as the "City of Lights", more gentle and charming at dusk. Under the Eiffel Tower, countless tourists and local residents stopped to look up, and saw that the tower was even more majestic under the sunset, interweaving with the distant skyline to form a touching picture. On the Seine River, cruise ships slowly passed by, and tourists on the boats either toasted their glasses or snuggled on the deck, enjoying this rare tranquility and beauty. The river surface was dyed golden by the sunset, and the sparkling waves contrasted with the ancient buildings on both sides, as if traveling back to the golden age full of artistic atmosphere. In the streets and alleys of Paris, the lights of cafes and restaurants gradually lit up, interweaving with the afterglow of the sunset, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere, and also allowing people to find a piece of tranquility and peace in this busy urban life.France · Paris

The timing of the order wasn't ideal; the limited-time discounts were already sold out, so it was more expensive than before. My trip to Paris coincided with the Pope's visit, which restricted transportation and made getting to the pier a bit difficult. Fortunately, the boat tour was very enjoyable, completely unaffected by the crowds on land. Seeing all the sights I'd visited in the previous days from the outside was a magical experience.

Stepping into the Rodin Museum felt like walking through a dream carved in stone. Every sculpture tells a story — raw, emotional, timeless. 'The Thinker' left me in awe, but it was the quiet beauty of the garden and the intimate ambiance that truly stole my heart. Whether you're an art lover or simply seeking inspiration, this museum is a must-visit. A perfect blend of artistry and serenity, right in the heart of Paris. Highly recommended! From my point of view, you feel better after visiting.

Stepping into the courtyard, my gaze was immediately drawn to the bamboo shadows in the corner. The verdant branches leaned over the eaves, filtering the dappled sunlight into a shower of stars. At night, when I opened the window, a bright moon hung perfectly above the bamboo tips, its gentle light bathing half the bed, even the bedding exuding a faint moonlit scent. During the day, leaning against the window, I would read a few pages of a book, the bamboo breeze flowing through the room, shutting out all the noise of the outside world. My heart felt gently cradled, finally free from the rush of life, even my dreams were filled with the delicate fragrance of flowers. After a few days here, I felt as if every corner of this place had been cut from an ancient painting, peaceful and serene year after year, every step treading on delicate joys, making this journey to find this encounter truly worthwhile.

I didn't expect this Paris museum's summer exhibition to be so popular. I booked a session for the 11:00 opening, but there was already a line outside after 10:00! The lockers inside the museum have a size limit, so my 20-inch carry-on suitcase wouldn't fit in there, so I had to pay to store it at the cafe across the street. 🛅 Although it was crowded, everyone was very orderly inside, making for a quiet viewing experience. Great! The rooftop restaurant is also a must-see!

The Conciergerie in Paris is also known as the Prison of the Inquisition. It covers a large area and has a history of more than 400 years. It is located on the banks of the Seine and is very grand and solid. The most worth visiting is the water dungeon in the ancient prison. It is actually very beautiful. Although it is underground, there is no water now. You can go in and have a good look.

I really enjoyed this museum. There are many sculptors and paintings of Picasso that were never seen before. It is larger than I imagined. Lot of art students around and it is interesting to hear their interpretation about some of his art.
