Omaha Beach

14 reviews
Omaha Beach was one of the four main landing sites for the Allied forces during the Battle of Normandy in World War II. Located on the northern coast of France and facing the English Channel, this beach stretches 8 km, extending from Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes in the east to Vierville-sur-Mer in the west, covering a total area of over 700,000 square meters. Omaha Beach may not be the most scenic, but it held significant strategic importance for the Allied forces. At the time, the battle was deadlocked; if the Allies could control this beach, the British landing forces to the east and the American landing forces to the west could successfully link up, consolidating the scattered beachheads across the Normandy front into a single, large battle line to suppress Nazi forces. It is no exaggeration to say that Omaha Beach was one of the most fiercely contested beaches during the Normandy landings. The Allied forces suffered heavy losses here, which is why this beach is also known as: Bloody Omaha.Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer · 16 km from Bayeux

When the Atlantic Line was built, a lot of things were removed from the Chigwell Line. I don't think the preparations were sufficient. But the quality of German engineering was definitely good.

The Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Bayeux is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Bayeux, Normandy, France. After being severely damaged in the 12th century, the Cathedral was rebuilt in the Gothic style, with the most famous feature being the cruciform tower. However, although work on the tower began in the 15th century, it was not completed until the 19th century.

I came here for the Second World War and experienced it in the museum, but it gave me a reason to go back to China to watch a movie, and also to watch the movie about the Normandy Landing again.

Standing on the German fortress and looking up at the 7-kilometer-long beach, there is no cover for the U.S. military. It's the shooting game of "Normandy landing", machine guns shooting without pause, and then looking at the fallen creatures one after another. Now we are stepping on the beach under our feet, which was covered with metal barriers, barbed wire, and the German army expected the coalition to land at high tide. The sea covered the barriers, allowing the landing vessel to collide directly with the bottom of the damaged vessel and sink. The German Nazi army also placed six cannons on the point Du hor cliff between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. On the hills on both sides of the four entrances to Omaha Beach, there were many unstoppable fortresses, guarded by heavy soldiers, and the muzzle of the gun was directed at the beach. It was conceivable how difficult it was to take down the beach.
