Gran Paradiso National Park
Gran Paradiso National Park was established in 1922 and is a national park in Italy. It is located on the northwestern border of Italy, bordering France, covers an area of 700 square kilometers, is situated in the Italian Alps region, and has an altitude ranging from 800 m at the valley floor to 4,061 m at the Gran Paradiso peak. This national park was initially planned to protect the endangered Alpine ibex and has now become a popular destination for the public to hike, climb, tour, and explore the wonders of the high mountains. Within its territory, according to vertical altitude, it consists of a diverse alpine ecological environment composed of shrub forests and beech forests, larch and fir forests, grasslands and numerous lakes, snow peaks, and glaciers. The low-altitude broad-leaved forests are home to tree pipits and various songbirds, crows, and tits, while the high-altitude coniferous forests are home to birds such as golden eagles, owls, grouse, nutcrackers, and red-billed choughs. There are also many mammals in the park, including the precious Alpine ibex, as well as mountain hares, cuckoos, squirrels, martens, red foxes, badgers, and weasels.
