Qibainong National Geological Park
At Qibainong National Geological Park you can admire the unique karst landscape of northern Guangxi, where deep basins surrounded by high peaks and the villages and farmland scattered within them form a pristine yet magnificent scene. Whether for photography, strolling and hiking, or taking in the fresh, untouched village and farmland scenery, this place will astonish you. The park covers a large area. The "nong" in Qibainong refers to these depressions encircled by peaks, and there are hundreds of villages located in those basins, which is why the park is named Qibainong. However, visitors mainly go to the following viewing spots: Jiuli Bawan, Qianshan Wanlong Viewing Platform, the geological park museum,Tianxia No.1 Nong, and Longjuandi. These attractions are all along Dahua's county road X906, with distances of more than 20 km between some of them. Driving or chartering a car is convenient, and there are also shuttle buses that pass several spots, where you can get off at the main Qianshan Wanlong Viewing Platform to explore while photographing the others from the vehicle. Visiting the Qianshan Wanlong Viewing Platform takes about 3 hours, and the whole park takes roughly half a day to tour. Jiuli Bawan and the Qianshan Wanlong Viewing Platform are very close to each other; in fact, Jiuli Bawan is the twisting mountain road that leads up to the viewing platform, and because the road spirals sharply, the winding highway itself becomes a scenic attraction. The Qianshan Wanlong Viewing Platform on the mid-slope is the park's main attraction, where a boardwalk climbs all the way to the summit and runs along the ridge. Visitors can follow the boardwalk to the summit, where the views are very expansive, and the surrounding peaks stand relatively isolated and steep, offering a spectacular panorama of countless beautiful mountains, ideal for wide-angle photography. Beside the boardwalk are uniquely shaped peaks such as Sleeping Beauty Mountain and Guzhong Mountain, both of which are worth visiting and photographing. In addition, the geological park museum is located at the foot of Jiuli Bawan, where you can see geological specimens typical of the geopark and Dahua County and learn about the characteristics and formation of Qibainong; interested visitors can stop by for a brief visit.Tianxia No.1 Nongand Longjuandi are not far apart, located along the roadside about 20-plus km east of the Qianshan Wanlong Viewing Platform.Tianxia No.1 Nongis a village in a very deep valley; you can descend more than 2,000 stone steps from the roadside into the village, though many visitors do not walk down but instead view and photograph this deep-set village from the road. Longjuandi is the terraced fields in the valley beside the road; the terraces form a roughly circular, layered pattern centered on the valley floor, resembling a tornado. These fields are the result of residents surviving under harsh natural conditions and now create a unique beauty worth photographing. Visitors driving themselves often return to stay in Dahua County or Hechi city, where accommodation is better and there are more options. Tunbang Tianchuang
Tunbang Tianchuang is a popular spot for water activities within the Du'an underground river skylight cluster. A skylight is an opening that connects an underground river or cave to the surface after the roof collapses, allowing water from the underground river to gush out, first gathering into a clear pool and then winding along the foot of the mountain into a small river. The water here is nearly transparent. Standing on the bank, you can see aquatic plants swaying gently with the current, small fish darting in and out among the plants, and even the patterns on the pebbles are clearly visible. The water originates from an underground river and remains cool even at noon in midsummer. Reaching into the water, you are greeted by a refreshing chill. Surrounded by karst peak clusters, the area features village houses nestled against the mountains and by the water. Every summer, this place becomes a natural, open-air swimming pool. Please note that the pool's depth varies. Shallow areas may only reach your waist, while deep areas are deep enough to submerge your head, so check the depth before entering the water. The water volume also changes significantly with the seasons. Detian Transnational Waterfall Scenic Spot
The Detian Transnational Waterfall Scenic Spot is located on the upper reaches of the Guichun River along the China-Vietnam border in Guangxi. Here, the boundary river meets a cliff, cascading down in three tiers with a width of over 200 m and a drop of more than 70 m, facing Vietnam's Ban Gioc Waterfall across the cliff. During the rainy season, the two waterfalls nearly merge into one, and their roar can be heard across the valley. This site also served as a filming location for the TV series The Journey of Flower. The highlights of the visit mostly revolve around this border river: after passing through the Detian memorial archway, known as the "transnational gate," you can take a bamboo raft from the shore to the foot of the waterfall, looking up as the curtain of water crashes down from the cliff top, with mist spraying onto your face—effectively "traveling abroad" on the border river. On the river, you'll often encounter Vietnamese locals paddling small bamboo rafts to sell coffee, dried fruit, and other goods, and the haggling adds a fun cross-border market vibe. After disembarking, follow the waterfall-viewing boardwalk and multi-level observation decks to admire the waterfall's full panorama from different heights. Boundary markers No. 53 (erected during the Qing Dynasty and inscribed with "Guangxi, China") and No. 836 are popular photo spots. Along the boardwalk, you'll also find Detian Temple, built by villagers in the 1980s to commemorate the Zhuang historical figure Nong Zhigao—worth a quick visit.
