This is a gentle, curated stroll to Franschhoek's 3 top wine farms and offers a very special, insightful look into what makes Franschhoek tick.
The tour starts and ends at the Dutch Reformed Church in town, and follows a 4-kilometre route through vineyards, statue gardens and country lanes. It's a wonderful way to escape the crowds and experience the true magic of the Franschhoek Wine Valley.
We stop at three iconic farms; Mont Rochelle, Mullineux & Leeu and La Cotte Heritage Farm.
We start in the town centre, but quickly slip into the surrounding vineyards, orchards and country lanes. The panoramic views and curated gardens are a major highlight of the tour.
As SA's Food and Wine Capital, Franschhoek has some of the best produce in the country. The walk culminates with a scrumptious harvest-style lunch of assorted salads and mains at La Cotte Heritage Farm.
A big focus of the tour (and delight) is in the stories. This is a storytelling tour. Run-ins with lions, jousting stick deaths, the birth of a wine region, South Africa's first non-white mayor and the early days of Bastille Day - the story of Franschhoek is as fascinating as the valley is beautiful.
