Itinerary
This is one of the most accessible and rewarding hikes near Ushuaia, perfect for travelers eager to experience Patagonia's wild beauty without advanced trekking experience. The main goal? Reaching the breathtaking Laguna Esmeralda, a hidden gem nestled in the Fuegian Andes.

After pickup from your hotel, you'll head north for about 20 minutes to reach the Lasifashaj Valley, the starting point of the hike. Your expert guide will provide a briefing, and depending on the season, you'll follow a well-marked trail across peat bogs, forested paths, and rocky terrain.

As you move deeper into the sub-Antarctic forest, the Esmeralda River will begin to accompany your route, guiding you all the way to the Laguna Esmeralda—a glacial lake known for its striking greenish hue in summer, caused by sediments from the Albino Glacier. In winter, the lagoon transforms into a snow-covered, frozen expanse, equally magical in its serene silence.

Once at the lagoon, take time to enjoy the view and recharge with a box lunch, surrounded by mountains and the peaceful sounds of nature. After this pause, you'll begin the return trek, retracing your steps with a new appreciation for the landscape.

At the trailhead, your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Ushuaia, closing a day of connection with nature, spectacular views, and the essence of Tierra del Fuego's pristine wilderness.
