Reviews: Great Barrier Reef
Guest User2014-04-30
Perhaps influenced by the MH370 incident and the kidnapping, there weren't many people going, making my group of four and I the only four people there that day. Whether on the bus, on the boat, or at mealtimes, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. But the tour guide and boat owner didn't let that stop them from being attentive. The food was even better than the buffet at our five-star hotel. Because there were so few people, the boat owner even took us to see crocodiles with some locals we knew, letting us touch them, and he diligently helped us find proboscis monkeys, trying to get us as close as possible to see them. The fireflies at night were truly spectacular, a beauty that words and cameras can't capture. They echoed the stars in the sky, making it hard to tell whether the stars were adorning the trees or the fireflies had taken flight.

Reviews: 60-minute scenic flight over Heart Reef and the Whitsunday Islands with Ocean Rafting

It was a fantastic experience to see the Great Barrier Reef from above. Even on a rainy day, the view was still stunning. The pilot was very enthusiastic.

Reviews: 1-day/half-day tour to the Whitsunday Islands Airlie Beach Whitehaven Beach [optional cruise/sailing boat/speedboat]
Guest User2026-05-13
Really nice day out. Well worth the trip. Staff on the day were very pleasant and helpful. The advert could do with a note detailed itinerary and description of facilities at the beach (there are none). Recommend dressing for the beach before arriving at check in. You stop at daydream and Hamilton along the way but you don't have time to explore, it is purely pick-up and drop off.

The view from the Holy Spirit Hill Inlet lookout is amazing. It would be even better to visit the beach at the lowest tide. The diving spot is a bit of a letdown!

Reviews: Whitsunday Islands + Hardy Reef Port 1-day tour [Heart Reef + Semi-submarine + Optional round-trip point]
Guest User2026-08-31
The helicopter flight over the Great Barrier Reef and Heart Reef offers a breathtaking aerial view of Hill Bay, Whitehaven Beach, and Heart Reef – a truly immersive experience. A must-do is the helicopter ride with a boat return! There are plenty of fish for snorkeling on the boat; the operators are very attentive, attracting them with food. However, I recommend bringing your own wetsuit, as I had an allergic reaction after using someone else's! The semi-submarine tour is a must-do; Australia really puts a lot of thought into this. While snorkeling focuses on fish, the semi-submarine tour is specifically for viewing the underwater coral reefs of the Great Barrier Reef – absolutely stunning! Time is limited, so be efficient! If your English isn't great, just say "okay" to the staff in the cabin after landing from the helicopter and head straight to snorkeling. Since the semi-submarine departs on the hour, make sure you finish snorkeling before 1:30 PM and then catch the 2 PM private submarine tour, as the return trip starts at 3 PM! In short, while it's not cheap, it's absolutely breathtaking. Seeing Heart Reef up close with your own eyes is a spectacle beyond words!
