Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.★

The experience was superb; her narration truly possessed a subtle, pervasive quality. I had a great experience during my private walking tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Everything was taken care of by my guide, May Liu. May was knowledgeable about Chinese history and also adaptable to my pace and interests. I liked how I could customise the tour - where/when to stop for a break, what I wanted skip or add on. I highly recommend this tour for a fuss free experience!★

On the first day of the New Year, we visited the Temple of Heaven Park. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests heralds the new year and brings good fortune. Guided by Liu Qian, we learned more about the history of the Temple of Heaven through her professional explanations. At noon, we entered Tiananmen Square. It was crowded on New Year's Day, but the weather was great. The group queues saved us a lot of time compared to individual tourists. In front of Tiananmen Square, Guide Liu thoughtfully took photos for each family. In the afternoon, we visited the Forbidden City. Guide Liu was knowledgeable and provided detailed explanations, also selecting the most suitable route for the holiday. Throughout the trip, she took great care of the elderly and children, making the whole trip very enjoyable!★
