The itinerary included major attractions around Baku, making for a very fulfilling day trip. The most worthwhile sight was the rock paintings, many of which are well-preserved and have been standing for many years on the hillsides along the Caspian Sea, reflecting the lives of the early inhabitants. I saw mud volcanoes for the first time, although calling them volcanoes felt a bit inaccurate.
Azerbaijan truly lives up to its name as the Land of Fire, with many naturally occurring fires, reflecting its abundant oil and gas resources.
It's understandable that it was once one of the main centers of Zoroastrianism; the natural conditions were indeed in line with the religion's doctrines.Trip.com picks
