167 reviews
RealNZ | Walter Peak High Country Farm is located on the southwest shore of Lake Wakatipu on New Zealand's South Island, facing Queenstown across the lake. Visitors typically take a boat from Queenstown wharf, with the approximately 45-minute lake cruise itself being a scenic journey. This highland farm has been settled by European immigrants since the second half of the 19th century, with its peak period spanning tens of thousands of hectares of pasture and tens of thousands of sheep. The Colonel's Homestead by the lake, built in 1902 with white walls and a red roof surrounded by garden lawns, resembles a fairytale castle from afar. The farm maintains authentic highland ranch activities: travelers can hand-feed shaggy Scottish Highland cattle with curved horns, as well as merino sheep, alpacas, and red deer; watch trained sheepdogs expertly herd flocks on the slopes, then catch a traditional sheep-shearing show at the outdoor theater. Those who enjoy riding can join a guide for a leisurely ride along the lakeside peninsula. After exploring, visitors can relax at the lakeside café with freshly baked English scones and hot tea. Backed by Walter Peak and facing the azure lake, the farm offers panoramic views of Queenstown and surrounding mountains - perfect for family-friendly outings and travelers seeking authentic New Zealand farm culture. As mountain weather changes quickly, remember to bring a windproof jacket.New Zealand · Queenstown

Lake Pukaki

Lake Pukaki is nestled among the mountains of the Canterbury region and is a large lake in the northern Mackenzie Basin that flows from north to south. When ancient glaciers retreated, moraine deposits blocked the river valley, forming a dammed lake, making it a typical moraine-dammed lake. Fine rock flour ground by glaciers over the years remains suspended in the water, scattering light into a rich milky blue and turquoise color, resembling a whole lake of poured, rich milk, which is how it earned the nickname "Blue Milk Lake." The lake surface is at an altitude of over 500 m, and the lake water mainly comes from the meltwater of the Tasman Glacier and Hooker Glacier. Looking north, you can see the continuous snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps. On clear days, standing at the viewing point on the southern shore, you can capture both the snow-capped peaks and the lake in your camera lens.Ben Ohau · 53.1 km from Fairlie

Christchurch Tram

Christchurch Tram

The Christchurch Tram is a retro-style sightseeing tram route that loops around the city center. Christchurch had trams running through its streets as early as the late 19th century. After tram services ceased in the 1950s, a fleet of meticulously restored vintage carriages returned to the tracks in the 1990s. With their wooden interiors, brass handrails, and the crisp "ding-ding" of bells, riding one feels like stepping onto a time machine. The full loop around the city center takes less than an hour, with over ten stops along the way, allowing you to hop on and off at your leisure and spend as much time as you like at each attraction. The tram connects key highlights of the city center: Cathedral Square, the colorful Spanish-style shops of New Regent Street, the food-filled Riverside Market, the lush Botanic Gardens, and the Arts Centre composed of Gothic-style heritage buildings. A stop is also located near the Avon River punting jetty, while the Cardboard Cathedral, built from paper tubes, is within walking distance. Families with children can let the little ones run wild at the Margaret Mahy Playground. Outside the windows, century-old buildings alternate with post-earthquake landmarks, while the driver provides a guide to the history of these streets—from the reconstruction story of the cathedral to the memorial significance of the Bridge of Remembrance—making the ride both engaging and informative. A few details are worth noting during your experience: the outer sightseeing seats are not fully rainproof, so choose inner seats on rainy days; eating, drinking, and phone calls are not allowed onboard; for photography enthusiasts, waiting for the tram to pass the colorful facades of New Regent Street or cross the stone bridge over the Avon River yields particularly striking shots.New Zealand · Christchurch

There are many types of guns, and the shooting is in the ranch area. There are many types of targets, and if you don't understand the instructions at all, you may be refused to play. I experienced playing Frisbee with rifles and shotguns. The experience of playing Frisbee is very novel, and I have never played with a shotgun. I scored 8 out of 10, and the coach praised me as a genius.

It's suitable for a half-day trip; if you have enough time, it's quite nice to experience the various activities. Our flight was in the afternoon, so we spent the morning sightseeing, had lunch at the cafe, and then checked in at the airport.

From the first floor of the steamship, you can see how the steam is generated, and there are people responsible for burning coal. To be honest, the buffet wasn't very good; the dishes were mainly beef, lamb, and pork, with a small amount of vegetables and desserts. There wasn't enough variety or variety. However, the view and ambiance were excellent. The sheep shearing show was great; the staff worked very hard, which was commendable. However, it wasn't particularly entertaining. Overall, it's good for enjoying the scenery. If you book the BBQ meal, the meal lasts nearly 4 hours. It's worth experiencing.

New Zealand has many lakes, most of which are surrounded by mountains, with winding coastlines, clear water and pleasant scenery. It is an excellent tourist destination. Lake Pukaki, located in the central part of the South Island, is worth visiting for its four unique features. First, the lake is rich in rock particles and minerals. Under the sunlight, it reflects a unique blue color, which is dreamy and attractive, and has the reputation of "Blue Milk Lake". Second, the lakeside is the best place to overlook Mount Cook. When the weather is fine, standing on the south bank of Lake Pukaki, the Southern Alps on the north bank 55 kilometers away are clearly visible, and the highest peak is Mount Cook. Third, the lifelike Tahr sheep statue. The Tahr sheep, native to the Himalayas, lives between high mountain cliffs. It is a first-class protected animal in my country and is listed as a "near endangered" animal in the world. In 1904, a British man brought five Tahr sheep to the South Island. Because they had no natural enemies, Tahr sheep thrived in the Cook Range and became the favorite hunting animal for European and American hunters to hunt in New Zealand. In 2014, people erected a handsome and mighty Tahr sheep statue on the shore of Lake Pukaki to commemorate the contributions of relevant people in protecting Tahr sheep worldwide. Taking a photo with the statue is the only choice for all tourists. Fourth, on the south bank of Lake Pukaki, there is a Mount Cook salmon farm. The salmon produced is firm and tender, cheap and good quality. Many food lovers come here to taste and buy.

The environment is very dreamy. I think it is worth the money. But the bad thing is that children are not allowed to enter at night. I don't know why. But overall it is still a good experience.

The Lin'an Art Museum is located inside the Wu-Yue Cultural Park, which also houses the Lin'an Museum and the Wu-Yue Cultural Museum. The art museum is not large, but it is quite exquisitely decorated, and the surrounding environment is fantastic. You can visit it while you are at the museum.
