In the bright spring of March, in Yinzhai Village, Panjiang Town, Guiding County, Guizhou Province, tens of thousands of acres of golden rapeseed flowers and hundreds of thousands of acres of snow-white plum blossoms complement each other, a sight known as "Jinhai Snow Mountain". Every household in Yinzhai plants plum trees in front of and behind their homes and on the surrounding hillsides. Every spring equinox, looking out from Yinzhai, the distant mountains and nearby hills are covered in pure, snow-white plum blossoms. These are the famous Panjiang crisp plum blossoms, which contrast sharply with the golden rapeseed flowers blooming across the fields and dams on both banks of the Yinzhai River. The white and yellow colors complement each other, with pink peach blossoms dotted in between, set against a backdrop of lush green trees, with Buyi villages faintly visible among them. With brilliant colors, charming scenery, and a magnificent atmosphere, the tens of thousands of acres of rapeseed flowers and hundreds of thousands of acres of plum blossoms weave together the spectacular scene of "Jinhai Snow Mountain".Guiding · 15.4 km from downtown

Guizhou Longli Baiyudong Cave

The "starry sky ceiling" at Guizhou Longli Baiyudong Cave is a signature karst wonder, primarily created through the interplay of lighting and stalactites to produce a dreamlike visual effect. Visual spectacle: The "starry sky ceiling" forms a dazzling scene where light refracts through the translucent stalactites on the cave roof. Illuminated, these formations create an immersive experience akin to floating in a vast stellar ocean or witnessing a shower of crystal stars. Mindful experience: Beyond visual delight, visitors can participate in a unique "starry sky meditation" program. During this activity, guides instruct participants to turn off headlamps and meditate in complete darkness, focusing on sensory awareness. Unique "amphibious" experience: Paddleboarding is typically combined with dry cave hiking, via ferrata, and rappelling to form a classic "one cave, two adventures" grand loop. After exploring the dry cave, you'll transition to the underground river, experiencing the magical shift from land to water. Dreamlike visual feast: In specific sections of the underground river, headlamp lights interact with the fluorite on cave walls, creating a fantastical effect reminiscent of a "starry night galaxy" or "cosmic universe". The crystal-clear water resembles "liquid jade", where you might encounter translucent shrimp and other cave-dwelling creatures. Unique rafting sensation: Navigating through the winding subterranean river feels like gliding on "glass water". The moon milk stone waterfall and white jade pool are two interconnected unique geological views in the cave, one milky white like milk and the other emerald green like jade, complementing each other beautifully. Moon milk stone waterfall: Formed by mineral deposits, it resembles a waterfall cascading like milk, with a milky-white stone pool below creating a dreamlike scene. White jade pool: The pool's water is crystal clear with an emerald green hue, forming a striking contrast with the milky white of the moon milk stone waterfall. The via ferrata at Guizhou Longli Baiyudong cave is an exciting climbing activity on the karst cave walls. Its features include optional difficulty levels and beginner-friendliness, allowing you to experience "spider-man" style fun while ensuring safety. 🧗‍♀️ Experience highlights: Two routes, double the excitement. The via ferrata is usually part of the 3-4 hr "classic grand loop" which also includes a 30 m vertical descent and underground river rafting. Alternatively, there's an approx. 1.5 hr "introductory mini loop" with a simplified via ferrata, suitable for family-friendly visits or time-limited visitors. Stalactite spectacle: The stalactites in the cave are crystal clear, resembling translucent white jade that glows like precious stones under the lights, akin to falling crystal star showers. There are also giant stone curtains resembling frozen waterfalls, presenting a magnificent and beautiful sight.Longli · 21.3 km from Guiding

The Flying Dragon Cave Exploration Base is located approx. 4 km east of Longli, hidden within dense mountain forests. This natural karst cave stretches approx. 1,200 m in length, named after the dragon-like winding rock formation at its entrance. Stepping inside feels like entering an underground art gallery. The smooth-walled chambers feature stunning stalactites, stone waterfalls, columns and stalagmites. A massive "stone qilin" divides the path, while wall carvings resemble "the five hundred arhats." A naturally flat "stone tablet" displays orderly patterns resembling mysterious ancient scripts. A crystal-clear underground stream meanders through, breathing life into this subterranean palace. As an ideal destination for geological studies, this place allows travelers to witness firsthand the well-preserved karst cave formations described in textbooks. The cave's relatively flat interior makes it suitable for exploration activities. Once a refuge for villagers during the Qing Dynasty, it has now unveiled its mysteries to travelers, just as the ancient poem praised: "Emerald mountains stand with wondrous peaks, hiding an eastern underwater palace within the cave."Longli · 26.1 km from Guiding

Huangguoshu Scenic Area

The Huangguoshu Scenic Area is located in Anshun, Guizhou, centered around the Huangguoshu Waterfall. Surrounded by deep gorges, dense vegetation, and dotted with limestone caves and stone forests, it is a typical karst landscape area. The waterfall's name originates from the locally abundant "Huangguoshu" (Ficus virens). Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake visited and documented this site, contributing to its fame. The scenic area primarily consists of three main sections: the Great Waterfall, Tianxing Bridge, and Doupotang. Most travelers follow the sequence of Doupotang, Tianxing Bridge, and finally the Great Waterfall, saving the most spectacular view for last. The grand waterfall has a drop of nearly 80 m and a width of over 100 m. The Baishui River plunges from the cliff top into Rhinoceros Pool, creating a vast mist. Multiple viewing platforms around it allow visitors to experience its grandeur, wonder, steepness, and beauty from different angles—above, below, front, back, left, and right. A particularly unique experience lies behind the waterfall: a 100 m long Water Curtain Cave runs horizontally through its midsection, featuring cave windows and halls. Reaching through a window, one can touch the cascading water. The cave served as the filming location for the Water Curtain Cave in the 1986 TV series Journey to the West. Due to the heavy humidity inside, bringing a raincoat in advance is recommended. Tianxing Bridge is renowned for its harmonious blend of rocks, water, trees, and caves—where rocks rise from the water, caves hide within rocks, and trees stand beside caves. The stepping stones along the path are engraved with dates, allowing travelers to find their own "birthday stone." The attraction is divided into upper and lower sections. Many travelers turn back after completing the upper section, missing the Silver Chain Waterfall in the lower part—where water cascades like silver chains into a funnel-shaped pool, the highlight of Tianxing Bridge. The Doupotang waterfall is located approx. 1 km upstream from the grand waterfall. With a width of over 100 m at its crest, the water spreads out smoothly like a beaded curtain. During the high-water season, its deep roar earns it the nickname "roaring waterfall." The scene of the four pilgrims leading their horse across the river in the 1986 TV series Journey to the West was filmed here. In summer and fall, the waterfalls are full and powerful, while in winter and spring, the flow becomes gentler, offering different viewing experiences. Nearby, visitors can also enjoy local snacks like sticky rice, love tofu, and Anshun spring rolls.China · Zhenning

Fanjing Mountain

22.8k reviews
Fanjing Mountain is located in Tongren, northeastern Guizhou province, with an elevation of 2,572 m. As the highest peak of the Wuling Mountains, it is a member of the UNESCO "Man and Biosphere" program, a World Natural Heritage site, and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The Mount Fanjing Biosphere Reserve covers a total area of 428.63 km². The mountain is characterized by its pristine wilderness, majestic peaks, layered ridges, crisscrossing streams, and cascading waterfalls. Its iconic attractions include the Red Clouds Golden Summit, Yuejing Mountain, the 10,000-meter Sleeping Buddha, Mushroom Rock, the Ten Thousand Scrolls of Scriptures, Jiulong Pool, and Phoenix Mountain. Mount fanjing was originally named "three valleys", derived from "pure land of brahma". The buddhism here originated in the tang dynasty and flourished in the ming dynasty, making it a historic buddhist mountain. Additionally, mount fanjing boasts abundant wildlife resources, including rare species such as the guizhou golden monkey and dove tree. Mount Fanjing is the main peak of the Wuling mountain range, located at the junction of Jiangkou, Yinjiang, and Songtao counties. With its massive and majestic form reaching into the clouds, it was revered as the ancestor of famous mountains as early as the beginning of the Ming dynasty and is a renowned Buddhist sacred site. Additionally, Mount Fanjing boasts vast areas for viewing red leaves. Every fall, the layered forests are dyed in vibrant hues, with the red leaves complementing the mountain temples. Here, you can take a cable car to overlook the endless stretches of red foliage or stroll along the mountain paths, surrounded by fiery red leaves on both sides and above. The red cloud golden summit is the core of Foshan. The two temples standing majestically on the peak, with two buddhas presiding, create an infinite dharma realm. This masterpiece of the Southern Song Dynasty's White Lotus Society in constructing a "pure land on earth" is a miracle in the history of Buddhist development on famous mountains. Take the sightseeing bus from the attraction entrance to the cableway, then ride the cableway up and walk straight to the top to see the famous "mushroom stone." True to its name, it has a large top and a small base, resembling a mushroom, standing approx. 10 m tall and having been on the mountain for 1 billion years. To the left of the mountaintop is the red golden cloud summit, and to the right is the old golden summit, both incredibly spectacular.China · Jiangkou

Cave exploration is so popular! It's impossible to book a spot at the more trendy ones. Then I found this newly opened one, and honestly, it was a pleasant surprise! They have a huge variety of activities – a monkey bridge, a balance beam (which can also be a zipline, haha!), a drop tower, paddleboards, and more! They even have a professional instructor, Mr. Hu, to take our photos – guaranteed to be great! There aren't any brightly lit caves, and you can even see bats! Kids loved it! Highly recommended!

I went there two days ago. There were rape flowers. There was Jinhai. Maybe it was a little late, there were no snow-capped mountains. It's worth a visit. You can drive directly inside without going to the parking lot. It's okay to go and see, but don't expect too much.

It's not bad. It's manageable for someone like me who's over 40 and doesn't like sports, but it's tiring. For the kids in my family who like excitement and are very active, it's not a difficult challenge!

The oddly shaped stones were quite interesting. There weren't many people during the Chinese New Year, so the experience was good. However, many small shops were closed, and transportation wasn't very convenient. It was rather quiet due to the holiday.

I've visited Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area three times over 30 years. It's considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Asia, and the town of Huangguoshu is also quite well-developed. Although the water flow was lower this year, it was still incredibly magnificent, powerful, and thunderous. This time, I had the opportunity to fully appreciate the unique features of the waterfalls in all three sections. If the main waterfall is the head of the family, powerful and imposing, then the upstream Doupotang Waterfall is the steady son, refined and elegant, while the downstream Yinlian Waterfall is the emerald green jade, endlessly captivating and always brimming with charm!
