Okinawa memorial park is located by the sea in the northern part of Okinawa's main island. Built in August 1976 on the former site of the 1975 Okinawa international ocean exposition, the park carries the theme of "sun, flowers and ocean." The grounds are broadly divided into three zones: ocean, history & culture, and flowers & greenery, featuring an aquarium, dolphin shows, botanical gardens and beaches - perfect for a half-day visit. The ocean zone is particularly popular: Okinawa Churaumi aquarium, the park's flagship attraction, houses whale sharks and manta rays in its massive tank; the adjacent dolphin theater continues shows dating back to the exposition era; the manatee house hosts manatees gifted by the Mexican government, while the turtle house observes turtle growth and dolphin lagoon offers close-up dolphin viewing; emerald beach is an artificial coral sand beach within the lagoon, swimmable in summer. The history & culture zone's ocean culture museum displays hundreds of exhibits including large canoes, showcasing Okinawa's maritime connections with the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, along with an observatory; nearby Okinawa traditional village recreates a 17th-19th century Ryukyu kingdom settlement with red-tiled houses, elevated granaries and windbreak trees, accompanied by Soro botanical garden featuring over twenty local plants mentioned in ancient ballads. The flowers & greenery zone's tropical dream center maintains year-round orchid and tropical plant displays in greenhouses, while the tropical/subtropical urban greening garden and sunset plaza make worthy stops. The expansive park requires walking between zones, with electric carts available. While most visitors head straight for the aquarium, Okinawa traditional village offers a more relaxed pace with trilingual audio guides in historic houses and occasional sanshin performances, providing deeper immersion into Ryukyu's maritime heritage.Motobu · 7.4 km from Ie

Whenever they hear "Wanza Mao", everyone will be puzzled by this strange name. In fact, "Wanza" means "ten thousand people sit down", and "Mao" is an Okinawan dialect, meaning grassland and open space. Therefore, "Wanzumao" refers to a large lawn that can accommodate ten thousand people to sit down. This beautiful large lawn is located on a cliff by the sea, and the surrounding flora is designated as a natural monument by Okinawa Prefecture. From there, you can enjoy the sea and the sky, as well as overlooking the coral reefs under the cliffs and the magnificent view of the waves crashing on the shore. Wanzuomao is actually very small. It may take 10 minutes to walk around the semi-circle. The iconic scenic spot is that the cliff is shaped like an elephant's trunk, which is somewhat similar to the Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin. From here, you can see pictures of coral reefs and stormy waves hitting the shore, and there are patches of green plant communities on the land. And here is also the location of film and television dramas such as the Hong Kong movie "Love in Okinawa" and the Korean drama "It's Okay, It's Love".Onna · 23.6 km from Ie

We visited Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium as a family with our grown-up sons and had a fantastic time! The enormous aquarium with whale sharks and manta rays was absolutely breathtaking. We also enjoyed watching the colourful tropical fish and the dolphin show. Even though our boys are all grown up, we all had so much fun together. It was a wonderful family experience and definitely one of the highlights of our Okinawa trip!

I love theme parks and this is new concept for me. The rain/weather only added thrill to the atmosphere. There were also few visitors during my visit so I was able to do all the attractions that I wanted to do. The food in Panaroma Dining is delicious. The spa was also very nice. It was a great way to end the day!

In Nago City, a little far from Naha, you can play with the Churaumi Aquarium ~ Although it is not big, it is fun. Take a small train + automatic sightseeing car, there are Chinese commentaries, eat pineapple ice cream after sightseeing and buy souvenirs. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.

The ruins of present-day Guinin Castle in northern Okinawa, Japan, are one of the World Cultural Heritage Sites and a relatively well-preserved ruin. There are nine ruins in Okinawa (including Shuri Castle), commonly known as the "Heritage Complex of the Ryukyu Kingdom". Although only the ruins are visited now, without a single building, according to the scope of the stone city wall and foundation, it is difficult to imagine the scale of that time. At the right time, you can also see a little cherry blossoms, and because of the sea, you can overlook the beautiful sea view.

Location and Recommended Route: Located just a 5-minute drive from Churaumi Aquarium, this is an essential stop to include in your northern itinerary. A 10-minute walk along the village alleys reveals panoramic views of Bise Beach and Ie Island, making it the perfect relaxing stroll for 50 minutes to an hour after visiting the aquarium. Transportation and Parking Tips (Cost Saving): Access via public transportation is difficult, so renting a car is highly recommended. While visitors are often directed to a 500-yen paid parking lot near the village entrance, there is a free public parking lot located a little further inside, so be sure to check the map before entering. Amenities & Dining: 'Fukusuke Tamagoyaki' near the entrance features a Korean kiosk, making it easy to order even if you don't speak Japanese. The omelet is very thick and filling, but since it is large enough to eat with your hands, it is recommended to bring wet wipes or napkins. Buffalo Cart Operation Notice: The buffalo cart does not operate on weekdays and runs only on Saturdays and Sundays (11:00–15:30). If you wish to board, please be sure to check the visiting days!

Ocean Expo Park is connected to the sea. You don’t need to buy a separate ticket for the dolphin show theater inside. You can see it after coming out of the aquarium. The dolphin show is cute and powerful, and the interaction with the audience is very lovely. Remember to prepare a change of clothes.

This is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. Pure, clear, lush and green, it is an undeveloped natural area. Walking across the Setoko Bridge, it is quite lively under the bridge, there is a supermarket 🏪 (there are cosmetics and tax-free), strolling around and returning to the hotel, just right.
