Lake Brienz

4.5/5
102 reviews
Lake Brienz is located at the northern foot of the Alps, named after the village of Brienz on the northeast side of the lake, while Interlaken lies on its southwest side. Surrounded by steep peaks, a boat tour on Lake Brienz offers breathtaking views of the Alpine scenery. The glacial meltwater carries fine rock flour, giving the entire lake a rare turquoise hue that becomes especially vivid on sunny days. Paired with the steep cliffs and dense forests on both shores, every snapshot looks like a postcard—a highly distinctive hallmark of this lake. Themed cruise with rich experiences Lake Brienz cruise offers various types of experiences. In addition to regular sightseeing cruises, it also provides special themed cruise activities, such as "breakfast cruise", "Indian dinner cruise tour", or "fish and jazz tour" on the cruise ship deck, etc. These are worth experiencing for travelers who love Swiss cuisine. Visit the village of Brienz The village of Brienz on the east shore of the lake is a particularly quiet small town, with fewer visitors during the off-peak season, making it perfect for strolling. You can also take the historic steam train—the Brienz-Rothorn Railway—to reach Rothorn. Giessbach Falls Another destination of the Lake Brienz cruise is the Giessbach Falls, where white waterfalls cascade down from 500 m high into the lake, crashing against rocks with a deafening roar, creating a spectacular sight. Beside the falls stands the Giessbach Hotel, resembling a fairytale castle full of dreamy charm. Cycling and hikes around the lake Lake Brienz is also ideal for cycling around the lake, with well-planned bike routes that allow you to experience the beauty of the lake up close. There are significant elevation changes during the ride, and fog may occur in rainy weather, so it is recommended to choose a suitable route based on your fitness level. Of course, there are also popular hiking trails here, such as walking along the southern shore of Lake Brienz, starting from Bönigen and passing through Iseltwald to reach Giessbach.Iseltwald · 1.7 km from downtown

Hoheweg is the main street of Interlaken and a tree-lined thoroughfare connecting Interlaken Ost and West stations. Interlaken serves as the gateway for sightseeing in the Jungfrau region, where travelers from around the world often stop for a transfer, making it the town's most popular spot, bustling with visitors year-round. Shops, hotels, and restaurants are densely packed along the street, with watch shops and souvenir stores side by side, selling Swiss watches, handmade ceramics, and textiles, featuring patterns that incorporate both rustic elements of the Bernese Highlands and modern design. On one side lies the open lawn known as the Hohematte, originally a monastery garden and now preserved as a public green space; on clear days, you can see the snow-capped peak of the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe from the street at the end of the lawn, and paragliders frequently drift down from the mountains, landing slowly on the grass, often causing passersby to stop and look up. There are plenty of benches and outdoor seating; sitting down to rest when tired and watching the flow of people against the backdrop of the distant snow-capped mountains is a typical scene for visitors here.Interlaken · 8.2 km from Iseltwald

Lake Thun is located on the Bernese Oberland between Thun and Interlaken. The lake is deep blue and crystal clear, and there are not only beautiful views of the Alps around the lake, but also traditional Swiss wooden villages. The summer resort Lake Thun is a local summer family holiday resort. There are many holiday houses along the coast, and you can see many people swimming, playing in the water or cycling and hiking, which is very lively. In addition, it is also popular with sailing enthusiasts for its very good breeze. A boat cruise is the best way to experience Lake Thun, starting from the pier next to Interlaken West Station, roaming west through the narrow waterway, and soon looking back at the magnificent scenery of the Jungfrau region. The cruise ships will stop at several stops along the lake, especially the famous town of Spiez. The end of the cruise is the medieval city of Thun on the west bank of the lake. The whole route takes about 2 hours one way. Cycling around the lake Many Swiss people love to ride bicycles along Lake Thun. Although there are more than 50 kilometers of roads around the lake, it is very exhausting, but the scenery along the way will be very enjoyable. Of course, you can also choose to ride one of the distances, and I believe you will have a good experience. Hiking in the mountains around Lake Thun is a great place to go on foot, and there is something special about the panoramic views of Lake Thun from tops such as the Niederhorn.Sigriswil · 18.6 km from Iseltwald

Paragliding in Interlaken is a popular sport among local tourists (especially European tourists). In every corner of Interlaken, looking towards the Jungfraujoch, you can always see paragliders floating in the sky around the Jungfraujoch like dandelions. I personally think paragliding is a game for the brave. Anyway, I don’t dare to play it. I can only watch and envy.

The last boat from Interlaken East Station to Lake Brienz was at 15:07, and when we went there, the boat had just left. The staff taught us to take the bus to Brienz, and then catch the boat at 16:40, and take the boat from Brienz back to Interlaken. We bought a second-class Swiss pass, which allows free boat rides. There are not many seats in the second-class cabin, but there are more open-air seats. If you are afraid of the cold, you can get on the boat earlier. I sat in the restaurant at first and thought I had to consume, but after sitting for a while, I realized that there was no mandatory requirement.

Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is one of Switzerland’s most spectacular mountain destinations, offering an unforgettable experience high in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by magnificent snow-covered peaks, vast glaciers, and breathtaking alpine scenery, the journey to the summit is an adventure itself. The panoramic views from the top are truly mesmerizing, especially on a clear day when the mountains seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. Walking through the snowy landscape feels like entering a winter wonderland. The impressive Aletsch Glacier adds even more beauty to the experience. Jungfraujoch is a must-visit destination for travelers who love mountains, snow, photography, and extraordinary natural landscapes.

The experience was great. The little car went up and down, and when you got to the top, it was snowing heavily. It looked really cool. The prices at the cafe in the attraction were also reasonable. It was so peaceful to have a cup of coffee while watching the snow fall.

Looking down from the sky with a paraglider, the green grass of Holheimat looks like a piece of emerald, inlaid in the center of Interlaken. Be sure to sit on the benches in the green space. There are rows of benches on the side of the Holheimat green space close to Herweg Street. Sitting leisurely on the chair, looking far away, the Jungfrau is surrounded by clouds and mist under the blue sky and white clouds, appearing and disappearing from time to time, beautiful and spectacular; looking closely, the sky is full of umbrellas, and tourists who are sightseeing by paragliders scream and land in the middle of the grass, returning home in high spirits. Be sure to take a walk around the green space. The west side of the green space is a tree-lined corridor, the east side is Interlaken Castle and Japanese manor, and the north and south sides are luxurious hotels, elegant houses and various shops. Take a walk around, you can appreciate the beautiful scenery and experience the local customs more deeply.
